Freshman Guitars
Freshman Guitars are a new company in the world of Guitars, after only being in business since 20023. However, in that short time, Freshman Guitars have become supremely popular, as they're seen as the "Guitarists Guitar", a number of celebrity and musical endorsees attest to this. As such, Freshman Guitars have grown in strength over it's short company lifespan to one of the most impressive manufacturers in the world.
Company History & Background
Freshman Guitars began life in 2002 when Sean Kelly from Kilmarnock, noticed a gap in the market for mid to high range guitars, without paying for the brand name associated with some of the more expensive guitars. Freshman make their guitars out of the same materials as high end sales, but without the price tag associated with it.Part of Freshman's success was to send guitars out to up and coming musicians for free. This was done to create brand awareness and endorsees. This was no more the case when in 2005, on the back of her huge worldwide hit single "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In Her Hair)", Sandi Thom played exclusively on Freshman Guitars, and mentioned the company regularly in interviews.
Furthermore, Freshman also landed the contract to supply the in-house guitars to BBC's Fame Academy, and have fans in people like Steven Segal and Sean Connery.
Their guitars sell from between £100 and £2500, and the company turnover in 2006 was over £900,000.

Freshman Acoustic Guitar Amplifiers
One huge problem facing acoustic guitars is amplification. Electric Guitars produce little (if any) sound on their own, so rely on the amplification to produce their sound. As such, even small 10W amps can produce a decent sound for an electric guitar.Acoustic guitars on the other hand can produce their own sound, and smaller wattage of amps found in most electric guitars can lead to the sound being distorted, this is due to the amplifier adding to the sound to make it louder.
Acoustic Amplifiers work differently, as they have a flatter wave form. However, to generate these sounds that enhance rather than distort the original acoustic guitar sounds, a greater wattage is needed.
Freshman - who deal exclusively in Acoustic Guitars - produce a range of Acoustic Guitar Amplifiers. Their amplifiers do have effects, and extra features such as direct recording to CD's or MP3's.
