How many people have heard of, let alone tried a fried jam sandwich? When I was a kid it was tea time snack that my mother made when I got home from school. Our family came from the north of England, a place called Carlisle.
It seems that fried jam sandwiches are a northern thing. People in Liverpool know them as 'deep fried jam sandwiches'.
You might be thinking what a strange combination, and all I can say is suspend your disbelief and give them a try. They are absolutely scrumptious. I would never claim that they were the healthiest sandwich option but I would say they were one of the tastiest. A great way of using up sandwiches you might have thrown away and a great autumn / winter warmer too.
