A variation of a blog that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, tumblelogs are frequently used to share the author's creations, discoveries, or experiences while providing little or no commentary.

iLike

A website that allows users to download and share music. The website makes use of a sidebar that is used with Apple's iTunes. The program and sidebar are not required in order to use the site but allow for ease in discovering new artists.

Last.fm

An internet radio and music community website.
Using a music recommendation system known as "Audioscrobbler," Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste by recording details of all the songs the user listens to, either on the streamed radio stations or on the user's computer or portable music device.

Pandora

An automated music recommendation and Internet radio service created by the Music Genome Project. Users enter a song or artist that they enjoy, and the service responds by playing selections that are musically similar. Users provide feedback on the individual song choices - approval or disapproval - which Pandora takes into account for future selections.

A social cataloging website that permits individuals to sign up and register books to create their library catalogs and reading lists.

A free service for sharing presentations and slideshows over the web.

A social event calendar website that uses iCalendar and XML for content syndication and supports an open API for the submission of event descriptions.

Yelp

An online database of user-generated reviews of local businesses. Site visitors interested in finding a product or service may search or browse listings by geographic location and "star rating," among other fields, to find businesses of particular interest to them.
