Monica Geller is a 26 years old single woman. She is chef in a restaurant and was an obese child. She likes housework with a passion and more often than not hosts, entertains and feeds her best friends.

Courtney Cox performs Monica Geller's role, the most serious and solid Friends series character after Ross. She's intelligent, always there to lend a hand however, she has a problem with challenges: she always must be the first to do something or has to be the winner in any competition. She so needs the first place in anything that it could drive her crazy to not get it.

Over years, Monica Geller will be Richard Burke's girlfriend (Richard is friend of Monica's father and therefore is quite older than she is), but their relationship will come to an end because Monica desperately wants a baby and Richard, who has already adult children doesn't want a newborn. Then, Monica will once again look for the man of her life and accidentally start a secret romance with Chandler Bing during their trip to London for Ross' second wedding.

Chandler Bing is an accountant but nobody really knows the type of position he has and this will remain some kind of secret for the most part of Friends seasons, until he resigns from his job and finds a new one as manager in an advertising agency.

Chandler is a former smoker and always looking for "a bit of fresh cigarette air". He is Ross Geller's best friend for many years and studied in the same university. He is co-tenant with Joey Tribbiani in the same house as Monica.

In his childhood, Chandler was traumatized - and is still troubled - by his father homosexuality; which causes many setbacks in his relations with others, including romantic relationships and particularly the relation with Janice, a young woman with whom he breaks very often.

During a trip to London for Ross' second marriage, he began a secret relationship with Monica. Chandler and Monica finally fall in love and get married during the 7th season; which will give us the opportunity to discover Chandler's father featured by Kathleen Turner.

Rachel Greene is a 26 years old woman. When we discover Rachel in the first Friends episode, she wears a wedding dress and runs into the Central Perk. In the first episode we learned that she left her fiance, Barry, alone during their wedding and she was looking for Monica to ask if she could host her for awhile..

Rachel is a superficial girl, born in a wealthy family and her destiny should have been the one of a housewife. However, she will learn the real life the hard way: first she must get rid of her father's credit card, then she must find a job; which she will find as maid in the Central Perk. Later on, she will find a job at Bloomingdale's and will therefore occupy a position she will enjoy.

Rachel Greene will fall in love with Ross Geller, Monica's brother and they will live a very complicated relationship that will last for the 10 Friends seasons! Over time, Rachel will also have a romance with Paul Stevens (featured by Bruce Willis), who is the father of Ross' girlfriend; another romance with a client and also with a colleague. Eventually Ross and Rachel will have a baby, a little girl named Emma.

In Friends season finale, Rachel and Ross get together once again for good.

We meet Ross Geller in the first Friends episode, where we learn he is a paleontologist and professor at the university, and is also Monica's brother. Ross is devastated as he just got divorced from his wife after he discovered she is lesbian. However, after a few episodes, he learns that he is going to become a father as his wife is pregnant; which will provoke a lot of hilarious situations as he has to fight against Susan, the new partner of his former wife, who pretends to act like the actual father of this future baby.

Ross has also been in love with Rachel since his earliest childhood and doesn't dare to tell her. During Friends second season they will finally get together and start a relationship that will come to an end because of a "misunderstanding".

Ross seems to be an expert in marriage as he gets married three times in a few years and none of those marriages will last for a long time. The second wedding will turn bad because he confuses Rachel and his bride at the altar and the third marriage will turn bad as he married Rachel during a drunken night.

Ross Geller is a very intelligent person but as many people like him, he is uncomfortable with women and this brings a lot of very hilarious situations for the 10 seasons of Friends show.

Phoebe Buffay is presented in Friends first episode as an original woman, guitarist, singer and self-proclaimed physiotherapist. Phoebe Buffay was Monica's former co-tenant. She is also vegetarian and has a twin sister, Ursula, who is a porn star and who we will discover later in the series. Phoebe's favorite pseudonym is Regina Phalange; which is a pseudonym she's going to use a few times over the seasons.

Phoebe has a heavy past that comes from experiences she had to face in her life; with dramas like her mother's suicide and being abandoned by her father, Phoebe also grew up in New York streets with criminals and homeless persons and during one season of Friends, she discovers her real mother, as well as her brother.

Because her brother lives with a woman older than him, they ask Phoebe if she would agree to be their surrogate mother and eventually, she will give birth to her brother's triplets.

Although she didn't have a normal life, Phoebe is quite a child as she still believes in Santa Claus, thinks Christmas trees have a second life and dreams about getting a pink bicycle. Her boyfriends were Ryan the navy sailer (performed by Charlie Sheen), David the scientist - the love of her life (Hank Azaria) and she finally gets married to Mike Hannigan (Paul Rudd).

Joey Tribbiani is the sixth principal character of Friends series. Joey Tribbiani is an actor who is always looking for a role and has to take a lot of auditions. While Italian, Joey doesn't speak a single word of Italian. He is Chandler Bing's co-tenant for the first five Friends seasons.

Joey Tribbiano performs the role of Dr Drake Ramoray in the soap opera Days of our Lives. However Joey tells a journalist that he often changes the scenario of the series; which is something the actual writer doesn't like at all and as vengeance, the very next episode, Dr Ramoray dies in a lift accident.

Over all 10 Friends seasons, Joey is very successful with women and had relations with almost all New Yorker ladies however, he falls in love with Rachel but their relationship won't last. Joey Tribbiani is also everyone's best friend and this friendship forced him to keep Monica and Chandler's relationship secret. After Chandler moved in with Monica, Joey finds a new co-tenant, a woman named Janine with whom he had a relationship.

The sixth character of Friends cast will eventually get a new role in Days of our Lives: he will peform Drake Ramoray's twin brother; who gets the grafted brain of the leading actress who left the show to make movies in Mexico.
