Hello Kitty seems to have a large circle of friends already, I figure more friends of Hello Kitty won't hurt Sanrio, Hello Kitty's manufacturer...

Besides, Sanrio like Cath Kidston have cornered a business niche market in pretty, colourful, wearable unashamedly cute and ultra feminine clothing, jewellery, accessories, bed linens and kitchenwares.

Cath Kidston is based in London, England. Sanrio's Hello Kitty "lives" in London, England... obviously the home of style and good taste...:-)

Sanrio, however holds the trump card for their Hello Kitty range of products, Sanrio's marketing is phenomenally creative, relevant to their market and customer base (girls of all ages and young-at-heart women off all ages) and highly successful.

Sanrio's Hello Kitty products range from Hello Kitty calendar to Hello Kitty stationary, from Hello Kitty toaster to Hello Kitty wallpaper...

For Hello Kitty's 35th Anniversary, Sanrio plans continuous promotional events in Japan, opening of new Hello Kitty shops within existing big stores in Korea, online and world wide Hello Kitty Design History Museum and Kitty Exhibitions.

The Hello Kitty product range seems inexhaustible...with an already worldwide client base for Hello Kitty, Sanrio appears to be developing a separate product line range for the Japan market...

A Hello Kitty credit card and bank account seems to be in the pipeline...

Intriguingly, Sanrio seems to be developing other characters in addition to Hello Kitty.

Other characters in the Sanrio's portfolio include Chococat (a "boy cat"), Badtz-Maru (a "mischievous little penguin" leading a humorous life in Gorgeoustown with his pet alligator) and many more...

It is too early to gauge Sanrio's plan for these characters, it is safe to assume that Sanrio are now aiming for a share of the male spending power...

However, for now, it is Hello Kitty that is generating a great deal of interest...
