Yes, it's spelled correctly - friiiend with three i's.
The idea of a friiiend first originated inside Seth Godin's online community - Triiibes.
A friiiend is someone you know through an online community. In fact, you've grown to know these people so well - you now think of them sort of like real "friends" but not quite.
Your friiiend might not even show up on your "friends list" inside an online community.
Think of your friiiend as someone who is much more than a person on your "friends list" but probably not the same as a true "friend". Although, sometimes you will become so close to a friiiend that person also becomes yor friend.
Its nice to have many friends and friiiends.
