Spirit of the Game
What makes disc sports unique
Spirit of the game is what makes Frisbee games unique in sport disciplines. There are no referees in disc sport! The players self-rule the game on the field. This mentality makes the athlete feel good if another player or team make a good catch or move. It is a community where pro players teach to newcomers, holding no secrets, but sharing the informations and experiences they have in the game.
From an educational point of view frisbee disciplines are really important as they have great value as natural and dynamic form of communication and as mental/physical training discipline.

1. Disc Ultimate
Where the spirit of the game begins!
Ultimate Frisbee (a.k.a. Ultimate) has born in the end of the sixties in the U.S.A. and from then, spreading all over the world. It is now played by tens of thousands of players, becoming a very well known sport. Ultimate is now played in 5 continents. WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation) associates federations from over 100 different countries and organizes the Ultimate World Championship every four years.
Ultimate Frisbee is a particular sport that attracts people for its immediacy and for its game spectacularity. To play it, you just need a disc, 2 teams (5 vs 5 on the beach, 7 vs 7 on grass) and a rectangular field. The field has two goal areas at the ends. There is no body contact during the game. To make one point the players of the team who has the disc (attacking) have to reach the goal area at the opposite end of the field passing the disc to one member team to the other. The player who holds the disc cannot move until he/she throws the disc. The other team (defending) will try to obstacle the throws of the attacking team with their body and arms/legs (as in basket ball).
Ultimate frisbee is not just another team sport, its originality is the total absence of judges or referees! For this peculiarity this sport can be played at any age and at any level.

3. Frisbee Golf
One of the most relaxing outdoor sport ever!
Frisbee Golf or Disc Golf is just like golf, but with the use of discs and baskets, instead of clubs, balls and holes. Players' goal is to throw the disc in the basket with a low number of throws. The game is usually played on a big field in the nature, with obstacles (parks, woods are most commonly used). The PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) is the official disc golf association.

4. Guts
Extreme team disc sport
Guts was probably the first ever invented form of discipline. Two teams (3-5 people) facing each other on two 15 m parallel lines at 14 m of distance. No referee on the field. The disc has to be thrown as fast as possible (World Record 134Km/h) from the player of one of the two teams to go through the other team (the throw is not valid if it is not reachable by hand/foot around the body zone in a normal standing position).
The attacking team make a point whenever the defending team cannot catch the disc correctly:
(IF YOU DEFEND)
- You cannot catch the disc with two hands
- You cannot catch the disc between elbows, legs
- The only way to catch the disc is with one hand
- The disc cannot be catched by more than one teammates (if two players catch the disc at the same time, the catch is invalid.
- The disc can be touched in air multiple times by the players until the catch
(IF YOU ATTACK)
- You make 1 point whenever the disc goes through the defending team body zone
- You make a point when the disc is not catched by the defending team (the disc hitting off the throw a defending player and dropping on the field in between the two teams is still resulting 1 point)
- If the disc hits the ground before the defending team's line, the throw is failed

5. D.D.C. (Double Disc Court)
Double Disc Court is a frisbee discipline played by two teams of two players each and 2 discs are used at the same time.
The two teams face each other in 2 square fields (13X13 meters of area) at a distance of 17 meters called courts.
Both teams have to defend their court from the other team's attacks and both teams are attacking at the same time.
-You make 1 point when they can throw one of the two discs in the opposite court and make it land within the court (there is no point if the disc hits the field, but then bounce off the court)
-You make 1 point when the throw from the other team goes off the area of your court
-You make 1 point when the other team players miss a catch
-You make 2 points when you make the players of the other team holding or touching both discs
The game begins with one disc each team and with a starting throw at the same time. Then it develops with an alternance of throws. It's a frenzy game that expand your perceptions and reflexes.
Very fun to watch and play.

9. Discathon
Individual Discipline
Discathon is a frisbee game where you run on a path (park, wood) usually 1000 meters long. Each player has 2 discs and throws them alternating. The discs have to be thrown in a specific path (with obstacles). The aim is to reach the goal line at the end of the path (and with less throws possible). The disc has always to be thrown within 1,5 meters from the first landed frisbee. The timer will stop when the player's disc has reach the goal line. If the disc does not go into the specific path, the player has to repeat the catch. If the player looses a disc or you doesn't want to repeat the catch, he/she can use one disc only, but the motion will be slower.

- Guts Extreme? Maybe in the 70's but right now if you want to taste extreme disc play any version of TheSport 4X4.
A mere eight feet separates teams from each other on a 4X4 court. Oh and I'm looking for a challenger to compete against in my 300 victory attempt.
