Frog Theme Birthday

My daughter decided on a Frog theme for her 10th sleepover birthday party. Not a boys frogs & lizards type of party, but a pink and girly froggie theme party. :) It was a lot of fun! This page will highlight lots of the ideas and supplies we used for her birthday party.

Frog Theme Partyware

The color theme for the party was green, lime green and hot pink.

Since all of the partyware on the market was geared more towards a boy theme party, I decided to purchase fun pink froggie fabric to use as my table covering. I used a plain green tablecloth from the party store and then overlayed the frog fabric. It looked great and very girly.

All of the partyware (plates, cups, napkins, etc.) were green and pink.

For decorations, I purchased some frog theme balloons (see below) as well as some hot pink latex balloons. And, the coordinating streamers were green, lime green and pink.

Frog Cake Recipe

Bake a cake in an 8" round cake pan.

Use icing tinted green to decorate the cake and a cherry twizzler to form the mouth.

Bake (2) cupcakes without the liners for the frog's eyes.

Use white icing to decorate the cupcake eyes.

Break open an oreo cookie, remove the cream and place one half on each of the cupcakes for the eyes.

Bake cupcakes and use icing tinted pink to decorate.

Actually, Yes! They have a ridge of very small cone teeth around the upper edge of the jaw and teeth on the roof of their mouth.

We wrapped the favors in clear cello bags and tied them with a coordinating pink & green ribbon. It matched the party theme perfectly. We finished it off with a personalized frog favor tag.

Even though I got a pretty good deal on Ebay for the favor items, I still ended up spending more than I had planned to on them, almost $10 each. Of course, if you don't want to spend that much, you can certainly chose a few of the favor ideas you like the most for your party bags.

Frog Bingo ~ Musical Lily Pads ~ Guessing Game ~Frog Hunt ~ Frog Toss

One of the games we played was Frog Bingo. For the space markers we used green M & M's. The girls had fun munching on the candy as they played the game!

More party game ideas:

Stick the fly on the Frog's Tongue
Draw a frog on a large poster board. Add a red tongue and mark it was an "X". Download images of a fly from the Internet and attach them to small square pieces of construction papper. Make enough for all of the guests.

Frog Hunt
Purchase inexpensive plastic frogs and hide them around the room or outside if possible. Have the children find as many as they can.

Frog Toss Game
Use a large piece of blue fabric or cloth (can be a blanket, sheet, etc.). Cut out shapes of lily pads from green construction paper. Place the lily pads on the blue cloth. Have the guests toss plastic frogs into the "water" and see how many then can get to land on a lily pad.

Frog Guessing Game
Fill a jar or jug with green gummie bears or M & M's. Make sure you know how many you put in. Have each guest take a guess of how many candies are in the jar and the person closest to the actual number wins.

Musical Lily Pads
Cut out large shaped lily pads from construction paper. Place them around the room. Make sure to always have one less lily pad than number of guests currently playing. While the music is playing the guests will hop from lily pad to lily pad. When the music stops, the person not on a lily pad is out.

Frog Feet
Strap them on and get hopping! What better way to liven up a relay race or game of tag than with these fun foam frog feet? You could purchase two of these frog feet games and have races.

Our Suncatcher Party Craft

The girls made Frog suncatchers for the party craft. They really had a lot of fun. Most of them had never made a suncatcher before so this was their first time making one. My daughter enjoyed it so much that since then she has almost filled her bedroom window with suncatchers she has done! :) I would recommend this craft for children age 8 or over since there is a level of difficulty with it.
