Endangered Frogs (Earth's Endangered Animals)

Thank you Evelyn for this great lens. I'm very fond of frogs, and it concerns me how much the bias has moved towards them as pets. Not only does this cause the inevitable introduction of alien species, and therefore a view of them as pests, but, as with all reptiles, these creatures have a miserable life in captivity.

What a great lens, you are obviously very passionate abut frogs. It's great that Squidoo can help you to save the frogs and raise awareness.

    I don't have any...or at least I don't know about them.

I think climate change plus streets that need to be crossed probably explains a large percentage of the decline. After all - roads + cars make it pretty difficult for frogs to move to a proper area (and climate).

We have had an over whelming population of frogs in ND for some years. They don't hurt anyone, so I would help them across the street. ~ A wonderful study!

Sounds like the frogs are doing well in ND.

Excellent as ever Evelyn! You have a wonderful teaching gift that shines here. I would love to hear the chorus of the frogs again at night but that may not happen. There was a benzene spill when a train derailed over river in our area some years back and the little critters havn't recoverd.

Oh, Shelly, That is so sad to hear. I do hope that the frogs are able to recover.

I did not know about this problem. Nice job! In Hawaii there has been an invasion of frogs and they want to get rid of them.

Of course the release of tadpoles is newsworthy.
  • Wysiwigs May 1, 2009 @ 12:05 pm | delete
Well, we just release a bunch of little tadpoles into the pond in our pasture...does that count as news?? :o) Nice frog lens ~ I particularly enjoyed your Frog Unit Study lens!
