A Great Book Series
In my son's second-grade classroom this book series was tremendously popular -- especially with the boys. They would laugh out loud while reading to themselves. The fact that all the adults are monsters just tickles their funny bone.
This book can be more than a fun way to get kids to read...if you dare...

What is the common thread running through the Black Lagoon Adventures?
Typical adults, performing typical jobs, who just happen to be monsters!
Let your students work in groups to brainstorm a list of typical jobs (probably should steer them away from school-related jobs as those are covered pretty well by the series) and then dream up what kind of monsters could do those jobs...

- "Typical adults, performing typical jobs, who just happen to be monsters"? Sounds fun. My son is a preschooler but I love to read and always welcome book suggestions for boys too. I'll have to remember this for when he gets a bit older.
