Help Us Turn Squidoo's Homepage Purple

This exclusive SquidQuest is only being sent to lensmasters who've received a Purple Star on one or more of their lenses.

We want to feature some of our most spectacular lenses on Squidoo's homepage but we need your help.

To complete this SquidQuest, send us the link to one of your Purple Star lenses by midnight (EST) January 20, 2012 for the chance to have your lens featured on Squidoo's Homepage during the week of January 23 2012.

We'll only be featuring up to 100 Purple Star lenses with correctly sized, good-looking Intro images so send us your best. All properly entered submissions will receive 100 SquidPoints at Quest's end.

Read on to learn how to get your best Purple Star lens's image up to par and ready to be featured on the Homepage of Squidoo.

SquidQuest Instructions

You might want to give your Purple Star lens a bit of a polish before submitting. Here are some tips to make sure that your lens is "Home Page" ready:

a) Make sure that your intro photo is 250px by 250px. A small photo won't work in the homepage squares. Stop by a couple of lenses on the Squidoo homepage to see examples of what works.

b) Choose a lens with a great image. We're not looking for lenses with product images that contain all white backgrounds or cartoon characters. They just don't look as nice. Choose photos that match your topic that are also bold and beautiful.

  • 1Submit your best Purple Star lens using the Quest Tab on your DashBoard before midnight (EST) January 20, 2012 for a chance to appear on the Squidoo Homepage.

    I've been on the main page before and my lens Living a Vintage Life topped out at 41 for beauty and has 125 likes and 55 comments, but I still can't seem to get a purple star for it. Is there something more I need to be doing?

    I know it's past the deadline, but I've been offline for almost two weeks due to a computer virus. So I submitted Build Your Own Green Home anyway ;-)

    Thanks so much for offering this opportunity. I submitted my "What Are Sustainable Communities?" purple star lens. I just wish we could have suggested another person's lens as well. It's always fun to introduce an outstanding lens that perhaps very few others have seen.

    I changed the intro image to be more colorful as I was afraid what I had might be perceived as too cartoony. But...hope I didn't mess it up. When I was getting my art degree 25 years ago all of my art was watercolor flowers settled down smack dab in a sea of white. I like that look. lol

    I am submitting a lens about Gypsy music, in their various specific identity in different regions in the world -- Gypsies are living in communities scattered all around the world but preserved the unity of their cultural national identity, language,customs and traditions. Out of all, their music is a wonderful gift to the world.

    Great quest idea! In keeping with my near obsession with explorers, I will be submitting my lens on henry-stanley-explorer. Stanley, you might recall, is most commonly known for uttering the famous words "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" Can't wait ti see everyone elses' submissions!

    I only have two, so I'm honored to be included in this quest. My 9-11-2001 Lest we forget lens really isn't seasonal, so I added my Designer Handbags Knit and Felt. It's been such a popular lens. Thank you for these quests.

    I see a lot of people are confused about how to submit, so here's how to do it, and I will contact support to see if they can change it so it makes sense.

    On your quest tab, next to the quest there is a button that erroneously says "quest completed!" Click that button to complete the quest by submitting your link.

    I'm missing something - when I click the start quest on my dash, it brings me here ... and when I click the big arrow, it takes me back to my dash ... but no where do I see where to actually submit my lens choice.     I'm not sure how to make my intro pictures 250 by 250 pixels. I checked all of my purple star lens intro pictures. Some of them are 250 by 260, others less than that.
    Do they have to be exactly 250 by 250?

    OK, I figured it out. This is my first quest, so I had no idea I should click the button that enthusiastically announces "Quest completed!" in order to complete the quest. (???)

    Here's suggestion #1: maybe the button on my dashboard quest tab should say something like "Complete quest here" :)

    Suggestion #2: Please put a link back to the quest page (this page) from the completed quest tab. I had a hard time finding my way back here to post this...

    I cropped and resized the photo, I hope you like it! I hope this is the right place to submit the link, as the instructions are unclear. The big link above takes me to the quest area of my dashboard, while the quest area of my dashboard sends me back here. Hmmmmmm...

    I will be submitting my lens on Zecharia Sitchin. With this being 2012 which is seeing a lot of interest in the Mayan Apocalypse as well as a lot of other discoveries related to ancient history and the origins of mankind, I think it's going to be a highly relevant and popular topic.
