Anything coming from Australia or another country is NOT approved for use in the US and is formulated differently (read more about this). It is possible to buy Frontline Plus from Australia or another country at a lower price. These products may be manufactured by Merial, but are not formulated or packaged for use in the US and are not US EPA Registered. Therefore they are not guarenteed effective by Merial with out the proper EPA Registration.

You should also be aware that there are illegal counterfeits available that have foreign labeled applicator package inserts in Frontline retail cartons printed to resemble the U.S. registered products. Frontline products, among other things, may be missing instruction leaflets bearing directions for use required under U.S. law. Further, the Frontline applicators may not be in the required child-resistant packaging. In addition to the inadequate labeling and packaging, consumers cannot be assured that the counterfeiters inserted the appropriate size applicator for the animal pictured or otherwise indicated on the retail carton. There is a quick easy way to identify authentic US-labeled packaged FRONTLINE Plus. First look for the EPA Registration 65331-5 on the box. Also, inside the box, is contained a foil blister pack that has Frontline applicators. In the genuine product packaged for the US, this blister pack is labeled with instructions to use scissors to open. Counterfeit packaged product contains no such instructions. The back of the US blister pack is black and white; counterfeit packaging may be orange-colored bars on the back of the blister pack and may include foreign language.

Back in the day, before products like Frontline Plus, I used to combat fleas. It was WAR! They seemed to be all over the dogs and the house. They never seemed to bother me much, but they would run up the legs of my guests and cause my dogs to itch themselves raw. It was at this point that I would start my cycle of flea battles which lasted a week. It worked well and I would be free of the 'buggers' for a while. Here's a brief rundown of my sure fire method.

Bathe the dogs, then run them through an old fashioned flea dip (like Zema). Then take them for a ride or someplace out of the house while I
'bombed' the house with Raid or similar fogger spray (one for each room regardless of size). I would also spray the lawn with some type of insect killer on the same day (probably the one that's been banned now).

Then, here's the key, I'd do the same exact thing all over again 4 or 5 days later. The first treatment got all the mama & papa fleas and the 2nd treatment got all the hatchlings before they could breed. Then it was 'Freedom from fleas' for a few months until they'd freeload their way back in somehow.

Now when I look back at all the time, chemicals, & expense, it makes Frontline Plus look cheap! I shudder to think of what using all those chemicals on the house and my dogs did or could have done to our health.
