Mint Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe
Recipe for Homemade Ice Cream Using the Ice Cream Maker
- Serves: 8
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Total Time: 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
- 3 drops green food coloring (optional)
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups 2% milk
Instructions
In a large bowl, stir together the milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and peppermint extract until the sugar has dissolved.
Color to your liking with the green food coloring.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
After about 10 minutes into the freezing, add the chocolate chips.
After the ice cream has thickened (30 minutes), spoon the ice cream into a container, and freeze for around 2 hours.

- I just absolutely love making homemade ice cream in a frozen yogrurt and ice cream maker because I know what's going into them. These newer models here are ten time better than the old ones that used to take a long time. You know what would be a great product to feature here? It's and Ice Cream Maker Ball that you roll, not sure what it's called but google that. It's very cool, we take ours camping with us. Homemade ice cream while camping. Very awesome. Have a Merry Christmas.
