Frugal Front Porch

Ranked #28,015 in Parenting & Kids, #1,286,592 overall

The Frugal Front Porch is my gathering place to chat about living well, saving money, simply cooking, and nifty crafts. Pull up a chair, grab a tall glass of iced tea and join the conversation. The door's always open and a seat is always available.

First, here's my blog

http://frugalfrontporch.blogspot.com/

I LOVE my blog http://frugalfrontporch.blogspot.com/. I'm fairly new to the blogging world but am getting the hang of it quickly. I'm constantly crafting clever ideas of all sorts to solve every day common problems I would normally spend our hard earned money to fix. Finding the next deal at the grocery store or the next "great idea" on one of the frugal sites I follow gives me a rush. Why should I keep all that knowledge to myself? Finally I have found a forum where I can share my ideas. As a small bonus, hopefully I can gain some inspiration from others to keep my ideas coming!

About my life

I am a stay at home mother of 3 (Kayla-10, Joey-7, & Daniel-2), step-mother to 2 (Richard-10 & Lance-6), and wife to a wonderful husband, Rick. In April of 2008, we moved from Lebanon, Tennessee 1200 miles to Northwestern Minnesota. We joke around the house, another 15 miles and we'd be Canadians! Getting accustomed to a smaller town in such a drastically different weather pattern has been an adjustment but one we're making quite well! I'm very proud of my family and all we've accomplished!

My favorite thing about being a mom

This was a tough one to answer since there are SO MANY things I love about being a mom. The greatest thing about being a mom is the opportunity to pass on lessons to the next generation so that it may be better than the generation before it. Teaching our children about manners, right verses wrong, financial and personal responsibility. This is the most exciting part of being a mother.

Just for fun: Books I recommend

This is the must have book for any aspiring frugalista. It's chocked full of homemade versions of many products we purchase every week at the grocery store for pennies on the dollar. There's a ton of uses for vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, alcohol and ammonia. There's also many homemade versions of convenience foods listed as well. The list is too large to specify here. You must add this to your library TODAY!

P.S.

My hope is that my frugal front porch will inspire you to put into action some of the things I find and write about. It's never too late to get started. You can start as large or as small as you like. If you feel overwhelmed or slip off the bandwagon-no big deal, just pick right back up and start again. Feel free to stop by the porch if you have any questions or just need a comforting word (typical of a chat on a southern lady's porch)!
