The Satisfaction Of Fruit Winemaking

Fruit Wine Making

Fruit wine making is a hobby that you can do easily, quickly and for less than a few dollars per bottle. We all enjoy having hobbies. We derive pleasure and satisfaction from building or creating something ourselves. But, some hobbies can be quite expensive.

If you have had a desire to make your own wine at home but you were afraid of failure, Fruit Wine Making is a great place to begin. You don't need a large grape vineyard, license or cellar. You can create a fruit wine from almost any fruit and most of these fruits can be grown in your own backyard. You may already have the utensils needed to prepare the fruit wine in your house. There is no excuse not to start today!

What is Fruit Wine?

Wikipedia's definition of fruit wine is: "Fruit wines are fermented alcoholic beverages made from a variety of ingredients other than grapes (the base of "ordinary" wine) and having a variety of flavors. Fruit wines are always called "apricot" wine, "blueberry" wine, "peach" wine, etc., since the word wine alone is often legally defined as a beverage made only from grapes."

A Simple Recipe

There are simple recipes and countless books with step by step directions for fruit wine making that are easily accessible on your home computer. You can make two gallons of fruit wine that you can boast about and share with your friends just as simply as you can grill a steak on your backyard barbeque.

All you will need for your fruit wine making project is a few household utensils; a two gallon container, (after filling with ingredients cover container with a bag and string or use an airlock specifically designed for wine making,) sweet fruit (crushed), sugar or honey, wine yeast or regular yeast and water. In about two months you will have some fine homemade fruit wine. (Just a side note, you may taste the fruit wine a little early, but don't drink it as the "green" fruit wine will cause a stomach ache.) The product will need to be filtered, possibly several times to have a beautifully clear glass of fruit wine. Enjoy!

Personalize Your Fruit Wine

When your fruit wine has properly aged and has been tasted for quality, you may want to bottle it in your own personalized wine bottles. Just imagine a wine cellar with wine bottles bearing your name and containing the product of your fruit wine making experience. Personalized wine bottles make great gifts for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and bridal showers.

Great article! I must agree that making your own fruit wine is definitely something you should try if you have any interest in wine making at all. Making wine has been one of the most satisfying, fun, and sometimes frustrating things I have ever done. I have even made wine for my cousin's wedding and it was a huge hit. I had labels created with the couple's picture on it as well and we gave them out to every guest.

    Regards,
    Jake
