Wishing on the Full Moon

My Relationship with the Moon

A couple of years ago, I noticed that the moon, especially when full, was extremely comforting and soothing to me. I, then, began to seek it out and bask in its glow, staring at it whenever I happened to be on the road at night or walking by my window on my way to and from the bathroom in my room.

I realized that I was developing a relationship with it and that if I asked for its energy to reassure or heal me, it would happen. Eventually, some symbols came to mind that, as a reiki master, I could use deliberately to connect with its energy. I began to think of it as full moon reiki and used them every time the full moon came around.

Just as I do with a lot of what I see regularly in nature, the trees in the courtyard, the birds I hear, the animals I see, I have been able to cultivate my connection to it and I am grateful for that relationship.

Wishcasting with the Moon

Several months ago, maybe longer, I came across Jamie Ridler's website and blog and found out that she helped people develop their spiritual practice in this way, by deepening their connection to the full moon. She reminder her followers to offer wishes and mini-dreamboards (or bigger ones) to the light of the moon each month.

I have done that, but would like to do so in an ever bigger way. This afternoon, she held a full moon dreamboard workshop. Due to my schedule, I couldn't call in, but I will listen to the recording and make a dreamboard over the next day or so.

My Plan for This Lens

My plan here is to create an online space for pictures of my dreamboards (which will likely be kept in my scrapbook) and some of the journaling that goes with the process.

If you would like to join me each month, as the full moon makes its presence known, I invite you to do so. I have created space for you to leave a link to pics of your own dreamboards and links to your blog posts about them, if you'd like. I'd love to form a circle of women who are doing this to see what happens to our lives as we do.

Jamie has just such a circle at her blog, so you may want to participate there, as well. Here is the link to her full moon dreamboard info. I don't know if she will do another teleclass, but if she does, that is where she will list that info, too!

This is a powerful window of energy we're experiencing under this Full Strawberry Moon, which will undergo a partial eclipse tonight. (Feelings might run high so remember to let it go, breathe deeply, walk it off, journal it out) This full moon is in Capricorn, a rooted, earthy energy, one that invites us to take grounded action towards our dreams, tending to them like we tend to our gardens - with love, care and dedication.

Strawberry Moon Wishes

June 2010

With that as inspiration, look at your dreamboard this month and ask yourself, what actions could I take to honour these dreams?

My plan, this afternoon, is to think about my spiritual practice and, specifically, to ponder how to make some of the changes I have been thinking about lately. I would like to slow down and pursue a more contemplative, cup-of-tea, ritual-inspired life.

But I find that so, so difficult!! And I return to it again and again, so I think, while journaling this afternoon, I also will do an intuitive reading, to see what might need to shift to help me accomplish it.

And then, that is what I will offer the moon tonight by way of prayer, and tomorrow, with my dreamboard!

What do you think about dreamboarding with the moon?

Can the full moon's energy help you manifest your dreams?

I think so!

I doubt it!

Dreamboards are fun and powerful creative tools. Using words and images, they express our desires and dreams. Engaging in a regular process of dreamboarding can inspire, increase self-awareness and help you manifest your dreams. And to infuse this creating with even more energy, we harness the power of the moon by making or sharing these boards when she is full.

type=textThe Deer Moon

For this full moon, I created a small dreamboard instead of a full-page extravaganza and my son declined to create one at all. But my wishes are not small at all. I have wishes for my marriage, wishes for spiritual awakening, wishes for healing and for continuing to modify the way I spend my time.

This month's moon has many possible names but "deer" is my favorite!

What are your wishes?

Share them with us here (or, share the blog links). And if you create a dream board, whatever the size, show us the pics! :)

Have a great August!

The Sturgeon Moon

type=textAugust went by in a blur, frankly, as I hurriedly prepared to start homeschooling again for this year! I did not create a full moon dreamboard, though I did make wishes and offered them to the moon. In fact, I participated in a prayer gathering online with a group I found on Facebook.

Here is what Jamie Ridler had to say about the August new moon and full moon...

"Here we are under the Full Sturgeon Moon in Pisces! On this month's New Moon, I invited you to let your intuition play a big part in helping you gather your images and consider the question, "How can I shine?" I can't wait to come visit and see what's showing up in your dreams! And you know, now is not only a great time to pay attention to the dreams that are surfacing on your board, but also the ones that are appearing in your sleep-time.This is a deeply intuitive time. What messages are stirring and asking to be seen?"~~Jamie Ridler

The Harvest Moon

The Full Corn Moon

type=textThis moon began on the fall equinox! And also begins the season of harvest...

"This Full Moon is in Aries, a great time to start taking inspired action towards your dreams! Look at your dreamboard and consider, what is it inviting me to do? What actions can I take to honour what I see? This isn't about 'shoulds' or getting heavy with your dreams. It's about bringing a spirit of action and adventure to them! You've created a board with what you want more of, so invite it in!"~~Jamie Ridler

Here's a picture from her website to inspire your thoughts about harvest and autumn abundance!

From her new moon questions, we are invited to consider what wants to begin in our lives and what we would like to make grow. What do we want to nurture into harvest?

Want to dreamboard with us?

I'd love to hear from you!
