Fun Bridal Shower Themes

People are giving practical gifts these days. Gone are the days of receiving a chafing dish or a gravy boat that's going to gather dust. Today's bride will love a shower where guests bring items to help her get her new kitchen up and running. When you send out the invitations make sure the design includes something kitchen-related like a spatula, pots and pans, etc. Then, write inside that you're asking everyone to bring a gift that will help get the happy couple's kitchen stocked up. They can choose kitchenware off the bridal registry, or they can bring items like cheese graters, measuring cups, mixing bowls or even gourmet food gifts in cans or boxes that will keep. Carry the theme through by having decorations that celebrate the kitchen.

If you know the new couple is moving into a handyman special of a house, you can throw a bridal shower that will help them get moving on those DIY projects. Have everyone bring a tool or a gift card to a home improvement store. There are many other ways you can help out as well such as offering the couple a voucher of one weekend of your time to help paint, or other such help. Then, invite both bride and groom to the shower and have a DIY themed day. You can include all sorts of products the couple will need like paint brushes, drop cloths, etc. While this may not seem romantic to some, the couple will be thrilled to get a jump start on essentials.

If you're going for the sweet shower theme, there is nothing happier than hearts. You can do this theme easily. Make cupid your centerpiece. Either purchase an inexpensive cupid statue at a home improvement store, or one that is a fountain.

Set the fountain or statue as the centerpiece and place rose petals and heart shaped doilies around it. Have heart shaped balloons, heart shaped candies and a heart shaped cake or cupcakes. Ask everyone to bring something heart shaped as a little soap wedding favors, candles, etc.

The men will really get in on this theme. In your invitations, tell ask the guests to bring something barbecue themed. Have everyone dress in fun clothes like cutoff shorts and tank tops. When the couple arrives, have everything ready for a good old southern style barbecue. Use paper plates and checkered tablecloths. Have corn on the cob and ribs or burgers. Two of three family members might want to chip in and get the couple a barbecue grill as their shower gift and you could have it set up and ready to go. When the evening is winding down, set off fireworks and eat ice pops. Everyone will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Did they meet; in high school? On an airplane? In a community play? At an exotic local? Find out where the bride and groom to be met and arrange your bridal shower invitations and theme around that. You could create a high school homecoming theme or a travel theme with vintage luggage and travel-related gifts. If they've known each other all their lives, you could get baby pictures of them and make them into fun decorations that tell the story of some highlights of their courtship. You can also do a variation of this theme by planning it around where they are going on their honeymoon. Decorate the living room like a Hawaiian island or European city. There are sure to be plenty of bridal shower favors to match.
