Fun Christmas Games

1Players form two equal lines facing each other. Place a bowl of candy canes at the head of each line, and an empty bowl at the end of each line. At the "Go" each team must pass the candy canes down the line one at a time until the empty candy cane bowl is filled. A dropped candy cane goes back to the beginning. The team that completes the relay first wins. A fun variation is with Christmas Kisses. Place a bowl of Hershey's Candy kisses on a table with 2 pairs of slightly large mittens. The teams line up 10-15 feet from the table. Each team sends down a player who puts on the mittens, unwraps the candy kiss and pop's it into his mouth. They then return to the line and tag the next player who repeats the process. First team to all get a kiss, win!

Arrange a circle of chairs in a room for each player but one. Choose a designated music leader to play Christmas music. The participants walk around the chairs caroling (singing along) until the music stops. At this point everyone scrambles for a seat. The person left standing is "out". A chair is then removed from the circle, and the game continues in this manner until only one person is left seated. The seated individual is declared the winner.

Before the game string various pieces of colored yarn around the house,(one color per child). Tie candy canes or stocking stuffers to the end of the end of each string. Assign a color to each child. Participants must then follow the yarn of their color until they find the end and collect their prizes

Divide your players into two teams. Each team will think of a person, place or thing related to Christmas, such as "elves", "The North Pole", or "candy canes. One team member holds up the number of fingers representing the number of words to be guessed, then pantomines the secret word (or phrase) to his/her teamates. The guessing team has one minute to answer correctly. After each person has had a chance to pantomime the team with the most accurate guesses wins.

With Yuletide words or phrases in hand create a stack of index cards with each word written on a card. For example-christmas tree, mistletoe, reindeer, Santa Claus etc.... Armed with pencil and paper assemble players into two to four teams. At the command "Go" each player draws the word or phrase while the other team members guess. (Use a one minute timer for this.) Try to guess as many words as possible. For each correct guess the team receives a point. Tally up the points when you have finished the last index card. Team with the most points wins. Very much like pictionary without the board game.

2Santa is required to remember the multitudes Holiday Wishes. See how you and your guests stack up against St. Nick when it comes to this memory challenge. Fill a large tray or box with a few dozen holiday items. You can use, a sprig of evergreen, a pinecone, small christmas ornaments, a candy cane, nativity characters...etc... Allow everyone to study the items for one minute, then remove the items from sight. You could also decorate a hearth or corner instead and then move your guests to another part of the house. Whoever can recall and write down the most items wins.

This is a fun ice-breaker for large groups of people. Prepare by writing Christmas songs on a small slip of paper. You will need 2 slips of paper for each song. Put the pairs of songs in a bag(or box). You will need as many pairs as you have pairs of people. Next let each guest select one slip of paper from your bag and not show it to anyone. When you say "Go" the guests begin humming the song they have selected. They then need to find the guest that is humming the same song. When partners find each other they stand together and begin to sing the song. First Duet wins a prize.

4 You will need a timer and index cards for this. On index cards each player secretly writes the name of a famous historical or fictional person or figure that is related to Christmas such as " Frosty the Snowman " or Mrs. Claus, Ebeneezer Scrooge etc... Collect the cards... mix em up and tape one to each player's back. Player's must ask yes or no questions to decipher their name. The player who deciphers his own name the quickest is the winner.
