Lots of cool projects to do with kids. I am working with my grand kids right now teaching them how to make the best paper airplane ever which is not just a fold up airplane, but one with color, stiffness and that looks like a real model airplane.

Very nice lens. Thanks for all the great suggestions.

I seem to be blessing lenses that aid me in helping my 4th grader. We (and I do mean we) have signed up for the Science Fair and are looking for a project. I did not expect a lens with choices and very clear instructions. This is terrific. I only had one moment when you said to use a torch and my child wanted to know why we needed to set something on fire. Great teachable moment when I explained that to us, it would be a flashlight. This opened an entirely new dialog on words used around the world. Sidetracked us completely from the science project while we looked up more words.

Great stuff, wish I had access to this kind of thing when I was a kid. In the 1960s I had a chemistry set and it was the only time I was allowed to work with fire and experiment in the kitchen! There were various books around but they had a very academic approach to science and it put me off!
  • GrowWear Oct 23, 2009 @ 11:46 pm | delete
Children are fascinated by science experiments! And you have so many fun ideas here!
  • Ramkitten Oct 19, 2009 @ 12:45 am | delete
The "Can You Believe Your Eyes?" experiment had me closing one eye and then the other, looking at things around the room. I think these fun experiments are ageless.

Excellent Lens - very cool! Only suggestion I can make - add a 'fun facts' section or something that changes often - otherwise there's no reason to come back!
  • C-Joy Apr 12, 2009 @ 6:48 pm | delete
Found your lens via the Forum - it is fantastic! Were you a Montessori child by any chance? Got great ideas for the kids in my own class, thank you!
