Fun Family Shows

Looking for some clean family fun?

I love to watch tv with my girls, but sometimes the shows don't always portray good family values. We struggle with portrayals of casual violence, sexual themes and jokes, and materialism. Those philosophical views don't promote the values that I wish to instill in our home. Sometimes we watch a show and talk about the views it portrays. Other times, we have to turn it off.

This lens is dedicated to the few gems we have found through DVD, Netflix, and DVR recordings. Here are some of our favorite shows that keep it clean and deal with issues modestly and realistically.

Little House on the Prairie

This classic is a favorite of our girls. The adventures of the Ingalls family is sure to create some great family time! Laura is such a fireball!

The Cosby Show

This was one of my favorite shows as a child. Some of the themes can be mature, but they are handled in a conservative, family-first manner.

Scooby Doo: Where are you?

Scooby Doo- Where Are You? is a classic. Yes, there are villains and spooks, but they all turn out fake in the end. This series has been a favorite in our family for three generations! My mom remembers watching it and now my girls enjoy solving mysteries along with the gang.

I think kids, especially young ones, are exposed to far too much sex, violence and horror these days. It's a real shame, they don't get to grow up slower like we used to. Nicely done, blessed.
