Fun Math Games Resources

Way back in the day, when I was in primordial elementary school, math was one of those dry subjects, taught by a teacher who slipped into a numbing monotone, which drained the energy from your very being. The whole environment prompted much fear and loathing in the class. So, students were either lost or sought to find their own paths to mathematical Nirvana (seeking outside help... hopefully not from Mom or Dad). There were no cool, slick, or fun math games to help present a concept or ease the pain of drills, but that's not the case anymore...

I've been quite fortunate, in that my daughter, being a Montessori kid, has been exposed to math concepts since preschool, so I never had to work to convert her from math agnostic to math believer. Even so, I've sought out educational resources that would enhance her understanding and enjoyment of math. These resources typically take the form of fun math games (printable or reproducible games, online games, or educational software).

My goal here is to create a resource list of fun math games and activities, as well as a resource for parents. Almost as soon as I published my initial lens I realized that I would not be able to expand it in the way I had envisioned... I hope this version is more useful.

Since the vast majority of educational games (hence math games) leave much to be desired, these lists are not meant to be exhaustive, but meant to contain the best sites in a given category.

A New Endeavor!
I'm not a board game person, however my wife and daughter are. So, I'm going to go on a dig for the best fun math board games I can find. It will be interesting to see what I can unearth. Stay tuned!
