Fun Math Multiplication Games

As a homeschooling mother, I am constantly on the lookout for the best ways to teach my children the different skills they will need. Multiplication, in particular times tables, is one those skills which needs to be learned in order to efficiently do higher level mathematics. Times tables are best learned through repetition, but that repetition does not need to be rote learning like I did at school. Today's students have a vast array of fun multiplication games available to them to enable them to repeatably practice their times tables in a fun way, whether it's interactive multiplication games on the computer or printable card games or other fun math multiplication games.

Different games will appeal to different children. Some of these multiplication games are competitive - play against other students or the computer. Some are timed and require quick recall of multiplication facts to win. Others are less stressful and allow the students to answer the questions in their own time.

I found Timez Attack for my son and he has a blast with it. It has a videogame format where he adventures about and defeats bosses and things like that. They also have a division part to the game.

Take any calculator and divide 10 by 81. It almost gives a great answer. It certainly got my nephew experimenting with his previously unused calculator!

When my children were younger, I was not aware of any of these games (they may not even have existed!) - we used different games which no longer exist.
