FUN Outdoor Games for Kids
In this lens, are descriptions, rules and tips for outdoor games for kids when they go to the park or the school playground. Most of the games are tag games that my friends and I created this summer(2008)! To this day, we are still inventing more tag games, so check on this lens every once and a while to see if there are any new additions, games that have been recently invented will have NEW! written in the subtitle. I hope that kids young and old find a fun game to play with friends and family on this lens!

Blind Seekers' Revenge
*tag game*created by TFClub
What you need:a playground and 4 or more players.
How to play:
Getting Started:1. You need to choose who will be the "blind seeker" which is the tagger.2.This game is like hide and seek tag except for a few adjustments. Playing:1.The tagger has their eyes closed for the whole game. 2.When the tagger is counting, the other players find a place to hide on the playground. 3.To decide the number for the tagger to count to, you see how many players including the tagger there are. Say there are 4 players including the tagger, you make 4, 40 then add 10 which is 50. 50 is then the number the tagger counts to. 4.When the tagger tags someone, they are BOTH it and they count 10 seconds less than they did before.5. The cycle of the game continues until there is only one person left who is not a tagger. That person is then the first person it in the next round.
Tips:
1. Hiders, you CAN move hiding spots after the tagger is done counting so you can get in another place, just avoid getting tagged!!!
2. If you don't have a playground, see if there are any bushes or trees close to each other that you can climb into. It's not the best idea for the tagger since they have their eyes closed.
3. If everyone wants to, the players who are hiding can agree to start out in one place until the tagger starts counting. Also try having the tagger away from the playground on a nearby bench or something with their back turned so they don't peek when you are hiding.

Groundies, Wood, Gravel, and Monkey Chips
*a tag game*
What you need: a playground, and 3 or more players.Rules:
1. The tagger(the person who's "IT") has their eyes closed the whole game until they tag someone. To start the game, they count to 10 and yell,"Groundies(or wood, gravel or monkey chips)"
2. To tag someone the tagger touches someone who's playing, or if someone is on the ground when the tagger says Groundies, they are it and the game starts over.
3. If the tagger opens their eyes and looks at someone(even if their eyes are barely open) and that someone sees, then they are on a "release". If you are on a release, go to a chosen spot and count to 10. Until you say or whisper 10, you can NOT be tagged.
4. To be safe, the tagger has to WALK, otherwise, they may run and trip over something causing injury.
5. Players who are not it can ONLY say Time out or T.O. if they get hurt or they are falling or are stuck somewhere.
Tips:
1.If anyone is having trouble keeping their eyes closed when they are it, try tying a bandanna or scarf over their eyes.
2. If you want competion, have a contest to see who can be tagged the least amount of times!
3. If there are any places, such as a rope bridge or balance beam bridge, that are dangerous that the tagger could get hurt on, allow the tagger to open there eyes ONLY on the spot(s) only looking at the spot.
Obstacle Courses
*created by TFClub
What you need: a playground, a stopwatch, and 2 or more people. How to do it:
1. On the playground, choose where to go and in what order including the starting and finishing place to have an obstacle course.
2. Take turns doing the obstacle course. While one person does the course, the other person times them then they switch. Who ever has the FASTEST time wins!!!
Tips:
1. Make sure that it's not so long that you can't remember it!
2. Want to remember which course is which? Why don't you name or number them to keep track!
3. If you want to keep your times on courses, make a chart that has the date, which course, and your times for your on record log!

Coming Soon!
Purple Slide Prisoner Tag
*tag game *created by the TFC club
What you need: a playground with slides that are any color and 4 or more players.
How to play:
Getting Started:
1. Choose 1 spot that all the players can fit on or in for the prisoner spot.
2. Choose 1 "freeing spot".
3. The tagger has their eyes open in this game.
Playing the game:
1. When the people who are not it are on a slide, they are safe, they can't be tagged. If you have less than 5 slides, you can include objects that are the same color as the slides as slides. You have to be off the slides for at least 30 seconds every 1 minute or so. What ever color the slides are, is the color in the name of the game. My playground has purple slides, so my friends and I call it Purple Slide Prisoner Tag.
2. If the tagger touches you, you go to the prisoner spot and you are a prisoner. You can free your self 3 times by getting out of the prisoner spot and touching the freeing spot. If you touch the freeing spot without being tagged again you can play regularly. When someone is freed, and they are still on the freeing spot, they are safe until they get off. Say you are freeing yourself for the first time and you get tagged before you get to the freeing spot, when that happens you go back to the prisoner spot and you still can free yourself 3 times because you failed. You can be freed by someone who is not it 3 times by them grabbing you and leading you to the freeing spot. Once you touch the freeing spot you both can run to play regularly. If you are being freed or your freeing someone and one or both of you are tagged, whoever is tagged goes to the prisoner spot. If it was your first time being freed you can still be freed 3 times since you failed. When you have been freed or have freed yourself 3 times for each thing, you have to stay in the prisoner spot next time you are tagged.
3. When everyone has been tagged and they are all in the prisoner spot the tagger chooses someone to be the next tagger except for the last person tagged.
Tips:
1. When you are not the tagger, try to have everyone playing meet at one slide and someone can tell people where they should run and which slide to meet up at in 30 seconds.
2. When you are off of the slides, try to be sneaky and out of sight for the 30 seconds so you don't get tagged.

Roleplay
*created by TFC club
What you need: 3 or more players, a playground(optional), bikes/scooters(optional), and imagination.
Getting Started:
1) Have every player choose a name(not your real name). Example: say your name is Carmen Leypolt(this is not a real name), you choose to have your name be Karen Smith in the game.
2) Also have every player decide on their age, job(depending on age your job could be learning in school), where on the playground or area you are playing at will be your house and/or shop.
3)If you have bikes or scooters, they will be your "cars", basically your transportation.
4) Have everyone agree on where in the world you are and what the name of your town or city is.
5) Have everyone choose what kind of personality their character has.
Playing the Game:
1) Use your imagination and pretend you are the character you made up. Everyone playing HAS to use their imagination!
2) You can decide what your character does, your character can be a hermit, a self absorbed artist, or whatever YOU decide!
3) If you have bikes or scooters, pretend they are your cars! Have everyone agree on an area that can be a pit stop/car shop. You can pretend your "car" breaks down and get repairs!
4) Don't make it boring by just doing everyday things all the time! Try out more exciting things such as a disaster hitting your town, or having a big party at your "house" with everyone in town at it! There are SO many possibilites!
Tips:
1) If you're bored with your character, try giving your character superpowers, or maybe your character is a witch or wizard and the town doesn't know it! You can do a lot of things with your imagination!
2) If you're bored with the place your character is, try inventing a new place, or being in a place in a book; such as being a student or teacher at Hogwarts in Harry Potter, or being a teacher or student in a regular school! You could even be the last surviving group of humans living underground or underwater! Make things exciting!
3) If you're bored with EVERYTHING, try being characters in a book or animals in a book, such as Warriors by Erin Hunter, being a warrior cat in the wilderness with your clan! Or you could be dogs in a pack lost from owners. There are LOADS of possibilites!
Getting Started:
1) Have every player choose a name(not your real name). Example: say your name is Carmen Leypolt(this is not a real name), you choose to have your name be Karen Smith in the game.

Sugar Rush
*tag game* created by the TFC club
What you need: A playground and 4 or more players
How to play:Getting Started
1. The tagger is called the "Sugar Lord" and the people who are not the tagger are called "Sugars" and EVERYONE has a name that is a spice. Some sugar names are: basil, nutmeg, garlic, paprika, rosemary, thyme, saffron and more. During the game you can only say the players sugar names instead of their real names.
2. Everyone has a "Sugar Home" which is a safe spot. When Sugars are on a sugar home that is NOT the Sugar Lord's sugar home, Sugars cannot be tagged. To get into your sugar home, you HAVE to create a password that is NOT all numbers, and when you want to go in your sugar home you have to whisper your password to get in. Other Sugars ARE allowed in your home if you give them your code or permission. Every time someone gets tagged, you HAVE to change your code because the Sugar Lord can guess your code 3 times every time he/she comes to your home if they want to. If the Sugar Lord guesses right, you have to let him/her in. The Sugar Lord CAN'T tag the OWNER of the sugar home they are in, but they CAN tag other Sugars. You have to get off your sugar home for 30 seconds every 1 minute 30 seconds.
3. If Sugars get hurt, they can yell,"141! Sugar ambulance!" and the Sugar ambulance( a Sugar that runs the Sugar Hospital) will get the injured Sugar. Once the ambulance touches the hurt Sugar, they are both safe. The Sugar ambulance's sugar home is the biggest because it's also the Sugar Hospital. When Sugars are in the hospital, they are safe unless they choose to be in the area that you CAN be tagged in. Just in case the Sugar ambulance gets tagged, there is one other sugar ambulance.
Playing the game:
1. The Sugar Lord has to have there eyes closed. When the Sugar Lord is touching the poles or posts that hold the playground up they can open their eyes, BUT the Sugar Lord has to wait 30 seconds before touching another pole.
2. If the Sugar Lord touches you, YOUR it!!!
3. To start the round, the Sugar Lord has to count to 20 in Mississippi seconds to give Sugars a chance to move. When the Sugar Lord is counting, Sugars CAN NOT be in any sugar homes unless they are in the Sugar Hospital.
Tips:
1. When you are off your sugar home try to be quiet and hidden for when the Sugar Lord opens their eyes, they won't see you and they will think you are in a different sugar home.
2. The best place for the Sugar Hospital is under a set of monkey bars. That way, hurt Sugars can sit under or on top of the monkey bars so they feel comfortable.

Sugar Rush EXTREME
*a tag game* created by TFC club
Coming Soon! (was invented about 2 weeks after the original Sugar Rush)
Taunter
*a tag game* created by TFC club *NEW!*
What you need: a playground and 3 or more players.
How to play:
Getting Started
1) This game is basically Groundies with a few twists. 2) Choose who will be the "Taunted", which is the person who will be it. 3) Start the game as if you were playing Groundies, except you yell, "Taunter!". 4) To tag someone on the ground you can yell Taunter.
Playing The Game
For the Taunted(person who is it)
Your Objective: tag someone before someone get 10 points.
1) Start the game like Groundies, except yell,"Taunter!". 2) To tag someone, either touch them or yell Taunter when they are on the ground.
For the Taunters(people who are not it)
Objective: taunt the person who is it to do something to get a point. need to get 10 points.
1) When the game starts, go to a difficult spot for the person who is it to get to and wait for them to come. 2) Taunt the person who is it to do a specific thing or go to a specific place by convincing them to go there or do that. Example: you are next to or on top of a tube slide and you yell,"Over here! I'm in the tube slide!" or "Rats! I'm stuck in the tube slide!" to get the person who is it to go in the tube slide.3) Once the person who is it does the thing or goes to the place you taunted them to go, you get 1 point.4) You can team up with someone to taunt the taunted (person who is it) to do something or go somewhere, if you succeed, you each get 1 point. 5) If someone gets 10 points before someone is tagged, the taunters win the game and gets to choose who will be the next taunted(person who is it). If there are only 3 players, the person who didn't get to ten points is automatically the taunted.
Tips:
1) If two players get 10 points at the EXACT same time, play rock, paper, scissors, the winner of 2 out of 3 rounds gets to choose the next person who is it.
2) If the person who is it likes to peek or accidentally peeks a lot, try tying a bandana or scarf over their eyes.
3) Make sure you don't taunt the person who is it to do something dangerous such as going down a firepole or something else dangerous because the person who is it has their eyes closed the entire game!
