Photography With Grandma

My latest craze is digital photography editing. I love taking pictures of things. Every thing. Lately I've been focusing on particular subjects in addition to everything. Semi's, tractors, motorcycles, U.S.A. flags, old buildings, plants, and uniquities in the community at large. Since Steve bought a digital camera for my birthday a couple of years ago, I've grown increasingly photographically crazy. I had so many rolls of film to be developed, he decided it would be more thrifty to buy the digital camera.

The first 2 photos of Dominic's were shot in my yard. And the third one was taken between here and town.

Digital Photo Storage

Never lose another important picture.

PhotosPhotos I love the internet. There's always something new to learn. A couple of years ago I found Picnik photo editing. It has so many ways to edit my photos that I'm still discovering new ways to use it. To keep from eating up all the space on my laptop, I use Picasa photo storage to store my photos. Not only do I put all my digital photos there, but I also scanned all the printed photographs from years of picture taking to store on there. As long as I can continue to pay $20.00 a year, my photographs will be safe. Now I'm suddenly thinking maybe I should get some of those Flash Drive things like we use at the office. I could load all my photos on them and store them in the fire proof box with my other treasures. Hmm-mm. I'm going to see what kind of bargain Amazon has on Flash Drives.

My youngest grandchild, Dominic, has an interest in photography also. His first photos were taken when he was about 3 years old. He's improved quite a lot since then. Dominic is also learning digital editing. Here are some of his works. He has his own website now: Coyote Photography. Some of his digitally remastered photos are being offered at Fine Art America.

GIMP

- spelled - Greatly Inspires My Photography

Digital PhotosNot really! GNU Image Manipulation Program is a FREE photo-editing download. It does everything I never knew how to do. I just found out about it by 'word-of-FaceBook.' Darcie French posted a link to a Squidoo lens. This lens by C. Stronner: Selective Color a photograph using GIMP opened a whole new avenue of photographic editing for me. After reading his lens, I immediately downloaded the GIMP program and dug in. It took me a while to figure out where the right tools were, but I finally edited my first Selective Color photo.

PhotosNow I've found a nice place to showcase my photography with the possibility of selling some. I know, it's a very slight possibility. But - faith the size of a mustard seed has brought about some mighty great happenings. Anyone can be an artist at Fine Art America

Irises Along The Back Fence

Beauty can be found in my own backyard.

Nature has painted our world with color. From the palest of pales to the most vibrant of vivids. Pastels, Jewel Tones, Brilliants, Rainbows. Jewel Tones are my favorite colors, but they need the softer colors for contrast or they just become a loud visual noise. I love flowers. So much can be done with the colors in them. Even white on black can become exciting.

My first solo Background Image with Border

Raindrops on my windshield

PhotosShovelhead Harley. My son, Nick, has been taking things apart and putting them back together since he was a little boy. He figured out how to take bicycles apart and use parts from one bike to fix up another. He eventually moved on to cars, trucks and motorcycles. He bought this fantastic Shovelhead from a neighbor. It was in pretty bad shape when he got it. Now, thanks to his skills, he has one awesome motorcycle. The difficult thing about this one was that it didn't have all the parts and pieces when he got it. So a major portion of the repairs and rebuild was figuring out what should be there.

Old Buildings

So long forgotten

Yesterday's Gone - This old building, standing alone, on land that once was fine pastures. Now the land is sectioned off, housing additions built, and the old barn and shed are left behind, forgotten.

Old Film Photographs

Given A Fresh, New Life

PhotosPhotos
There are still rolls of film left to be developed from my earlier years. It's kind of interesting to get an old roll developed. I never know what will be on there. Sometimes it's one of my children's birthday parties from 25 years ago, or a trip to the zoo. One roll turned out to be when my Mom was playing at a park with my son and daughter and my brother's son. That was over 30 years ago. My Mom passed on 20 years ago, so this was indeed a treasure.

Our Peeping Squirrel

Distraction at the office.

This squirrel lives in the tree which overhangs our office. He enjoys sunning on the window sill. I think he also likes to watch us in our habitat.

PhotoBucket

has everything

Rosie is so sad. Mom and the grandchildren went to New Mexico and left her behind. I avoided PhotoBucket for so long just because I didn't want to use what everyone else was using. I couldn't get a photo to load the way I wanted so I put it into PhotoBucket. Then it worked perfectly. And I found that Photobucket has everything on it that I could want in one location. It can replace 3 other sites I'm using...and it's FREE!

Here's Doodles, posing again for me. You might remember him from My Son and His Lost Chihuahua. We don't get to see Dude very often these days. Nick has met his special other, which we're all happy about. Which is not the point here. Just hoping to hear from you. Any photographic or editing tips would be appreciated. Thanks and have a phototastic day.
