Fun shopping = shopping for fun

If you try to Google for 'fun shopping', you'll hardly find any articles, news items or passages related to the topic. Why? A lot of social shopping sites claim to be fun shopping resources but nobody explains what that actually is and in what way it is different from simple online shopping or social shopping or whether it's just the same thing. Hasn't anyone tried to describe this phenomenon yet?
I haven't found anything like that on the web. Of course I just might have missed something, but anyway I like the thought of being the first (or at least one the first) to try providing some kind of definition of the term.
So in my understanding, fun shopping is the act of purchasing an item (or several items) with a strong focus on the purchasing process itself rather than the result (obtaining an item). In other words, when we say 'fun shopping' first of all we mean the process of getting fun while looking to buy something. Whether we buy something or not in the end is not that important as we might just as well get the fun while searching for something we would like to buy.
Summing up, fun shopping is shopping in the most general meaning when you get fun either from:
- the process of searching for the product you want to buy or
- the act of purchasing the item you were looking for or
- the fact that you found the best price available
But thinking about fun shopping I came across another related question. What's more fun: shopping online or going out to shop? Actually it's hard to say because it depends on personal tastes and on the advantages both ways of shopping offer. Here's a couple of opinions I got:
- Going out is more fun because that way I can shop with my friends.
- Online shopping as there's more things on it and more hard-to-find products.
- Going out cause it's a good exercise after all!
- I like shopping online (especially group buying) and get more fun from it because it saves pretty much of my time.
- It's never fun to order something online and then have it not fit, better to see it for real first.
- Definitely online is much more fun as I can compare prices and easily find the best offer.
Opinions differ, but I personally tend to like more online shopping. For me this is shopping for fun because I can do it any time I want and at any place I want (having my laptop with me). I can surf through the web for hours and it causes no leg ache. I can browse thousands of various items and see the widest range of prices for the same item so I can pick up the best one. Apparently, I belong to those who find fun in the shopping process itself.:)
Got something to say? Any ideas for fun shopping are welcome!
