Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories

Making Sierpinski cookies has never been more fun.

I came across this great recipe at The Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories. The cookies not only look great and represent a Sierpinski carpet perfectly but they are delicious. You should try.

What is a Sierpinsky carpet? For those of you who don't know how to make one, here are the first five simple stepts to draw it:
Step 1. Start by drawing a square - preferable to have the side length as a multiple of 9 (ie: 9, 18, 27, ...)
Step 2. Divide this square into 9 smaller congruent (identical) squares.
Step 3. Cut out the center square. If you prefer you can colour it in any colour of you choice instead of cutting it out.
Step 4. Divide each of the eight remaining solid squares into 9 congruent squares
Step 5. Cut out the center square from each of the eight squares. Again, if you prefer you can colour it in any colour of you choice instead of cutting it out.
Continue to repeat the construction for as long as you want.

Make the pattern and have fun with it.

What is Koch's Snowflake?

First of all what is a von Koch Snowflake? Well, it is another beautiful fractal. If you decide you want to draw one, here are the simple steps to get you started:
Step 1. Draw an equilateral triangle (all sides are equal) with side length of 9 cm (or multiples of 9 ie: 9, 18, 27, ...).
Step 2. Divide each side into three equal segments.
Step 3. Draw an equilateral triangle that has the middle segment from Step 2. as its base and points outward.
Step 4. Rub off the line segment that is the base of the triangle from Step 3.
Step 5. Reapeat Steps 2., 3., and 4. as many times as you want.

What it Looks Like

The Koch Snowflake is a beautiful fractal shape... that you can make in your kitchen.

Crane croutons for your salad.
'Crispy wonton wrappers add cheerful crunch to an asian salad, but shouldn't they be... more interesting? Presented here is the ideal upgrade. No more must you clutter your salad with amorphous crispies or chow mein noodles to obtain the requisite crunch: Crane Croutons will be your piece de resistance.'
