Handcrafted, Hand Painted Furniture & Functional Art Items

My husband and I have done several projects together. He enjoys woodworking and I obviously enjoy painting. He has built several frames for my original paintings as well as some really cool pieces of furniture such as: Adirondack chairs & tables. He even built our entertainment center/fireplace mantel and the island in our kitchen.

I have provided photos of some of the items that we have worked on together as well as some other items I have painted or altered in some way.

Funky Scottish Terrier Painting

Original Painting & Cutting Board

Abstract Dog Scetch

This first project I will show was a commission from one of my collectors. She had purchased a couple of my pieces for her new kitchen and wanted some other items to add to the theme.

The first piece was not a "functional" piece in its original form but did move on to be one later.

She wanted me to paint a colorful abstract piece of a Scottish Terrier using: orange, purple, green & yellow and the other colors I normally paint in. I provided her with this rough sketch and then moved onto the painting.

Art Cutting Board

Cutting Board

After completing the painting she went on to order a cutting board with the painting on it. I ordered it from a company I work with that provides this service.

The original is a 16"x20" acrylic on canvas painting. Shown below are some other items I offer this piece on. You can also View all products here!

Put Your Artwork On Cutting Boards

If you are looking to have your artwork or photos, printed on cutting boards; you can find custom services on Amazon. The link below is a listing for exactly this. They will add your photo or image to the cutting board. Make sure these are "YOUR" images! You can not take images off of the internet and have them printed on products, as this would be theft.

Handcrafted, Hand Painted Kitchen Utensil Holder

Handcrafted Hand Painted Kitchen Utensil Holder

She requested something to hold her utensils in, again with the same color scheme.

My husband made a square utensil holder then I chose one of my square pieces that I had originally painted on
Mexican Saltillo tile; and made a print of it to fit the size of the square for the front. I mounted the print to the front and painted designs on the 3 remaining sides. Then I varnished it.

The painting featured on the front of the box is also available on throw
pillows
, clocks, mugs and other functional art items. View all products here!

Handcrafted & Hand Painted Spoon Rest

Handcrafted Hand Painted Wooden Spoon Rest

Next on the list was the spoon Rest. My husband cut it out of a block of wood and carved out the center area. I went ahead to paint and varnish it.

Hand Painted Trinket Boxes

Colorful Trinket BoxI have also purchased pre-made unfinished items to paint on. One of my favorites are trinket boxes. They come in all shapes and sizes and are easy to find. They also make nice gifts.

The box shown on the left has a print of one of my original paintings from my 'Colors In Motion' series; mounted on the front. This piece was also hand painted and the print was framed out in small wood pieces. I only added varnish to the print are for protection. The rest of the box, inside and outside; is painted to leave a rustic kind of appearance.

I have painted several of these boxes in the past. All have sold. I have one in my etsy shop listed below!

Handcrafted, Hand Painted Furniture

Adirondack Chair

This is one of the Adirondack chairs, that my husband built. He has built several Adirondack chairs.

He built 2 of these particular ones. each have rockers. I painted both. One is shown here. I have to find the photo of the other and will add it another time.

I ended up trading the 2 chairs for some awesome photography for my new home.

My friend Paula Showen is an amazing photographer so I filled my home with her work. You can view her photography @ ShowmarPhoto.com. I should have her take a couple of pics of of the chairs for me to add to this page; as hers would be much better than the photo I took.

Your art is beautiful, I love all things whimsical! I was wondering what type of paint do you use for your tiles, I think they are so beautiful and vibrant, a true piece of art. Best of luck to you! Thanks

These are great, art is enjoyed so much more when you can actually use the piece and not just stare at it. Featured in the right sidebar of my Part III of the Good Heart series (for now). Love these!
