The Sue Bundrick Memorial Fund for Animals
This lens is about our emergency fund for animals. The fund runs on a monthly basis, and was set up to help smaller animal rescues in financial crisis. We were previously known as 'Myspace Fund for Animals' but the fund has had a recent name change to The Sue Bundrick Fund for Animals, in memory of my mother, Sue Bundrick, who sadly passed away on April 9th 2007

About the fund

What happens to the smaller 'grass roots' animal rescue organisations that don't have the same level of funding the more established rescues have?
There are many small animal rescues all over the world, doing their best with minimal resources and little funding. People who struggle and fight to help our animal friends. People motivated by a love of animals and an outrage at the cruelty that animals constantly endure.
The larger, more well known animal rescues CANNOT take in all suffering and unwanted animals. Sadly, as we know all to well, there are just too many unwanted animals.
So, if it wasn't for the smaller rescues, and the people running them, we would see EVEN more animals suffering, emaciated, abused and unwanted, with NOWHERE to go.
The Sue Bundrick Memorial Fund for Animals exists to help these smaller rescues. But we need YOUR help.
Please, help us to make a difference!
You can join the fund by visiting our website, or if you are on the Myspace community you can join us there too! We do not charge a membership fee, but we ask for a donation of $1 or £1, per week if you can, but all donations...even one offs are greatly welcomed :)
Just click on the relevant links here.
More About the Fund
How does it work?

The fund runs monthly from the 4th to the 4th of each month. We ask our members to make a weekly donation of $1 or £1 (although there are no rules as to how much or when, that is just what we ask of members)
When applications from animal rescues are submitted, we forward them via e-mail to the fund members who have made a donation. The people who have donated become eligible to vote as soon as they have made a donation for that month
We then have a group vote at the end of each fund month-this takes place between the 1st and 3rd of each month. Members vote for the animal rescue they would like to receive the fund money. Only members who have made a donation are eligible to vote.
Animal rescues in need of financial help can submit an application in the form of an e-mail to the following...
Via our website here:
Apply via our website
Or via Myspace here: (please note: this will take you to my horse rescue page: Last Angel Equine Defence. It is the right page! I'm the group moderator)

Items donated by our members to raise funds
Would you like to help the fund but can't donate money?
We now have an ebay account for Sue Bundrick Fund for Animals. If you would like to donate 'things' rather than money, this is for you!
If you have something that you would like to donate for the fund to sell via ebay:
Just email me the details of it with a pic if possible! (click on the contact me button on this page, or email me via our ebay address
I will list it from the fund4animals account on ebay. After it has been auctioned and If it sells, I will send you the address of the buyer you need to send your item to.
The fund is based in the UK, so we have had to open an ebay account at ebay.co.uk
If the winning bidder lives in the UK, and you are in the USA, for instance, the postage charge we list needs to be enough to cover sending the item
If you would like to buy an item from the fund's ebay listing and the item is in the UK, but you aren't, then we know postage costs a bit more, but then the donation of the item is going 100% to the fund for animals and we think that's a great reason to pay the extra postage...think of all the animals you'll be helping!
We have only just opened our ebay account, so please give it time to grow! There are two items listed presently....But I will be adding to them as and when items are donated.
The Who ladies 'target' T-shirt
and
The Who canvas bag, from this year's tour!!!
So, please help us to get our ebay listing going!
Thank you to all :)

New Animal Welfare Laws~
From the RSPCA:
'....The Animal Welfare Act is a new law that will provide much greater protection for animals.
The law comes into force on 28 March 2007 in Wales and on 6 April 2007 in England.
The Animal Welfare Act includes a new 'welfare offence' - which put simply means that the owner of a pet is legally obliged to care for their pet properly, by providing:
a proper diet, including fresh water
somewhere suitable to live
for any need to be housed with or apart from, other animals
the ability to express normal behaviour
protection from and treatment of, illness and injury.
It is important to remember that most pet owners will not need to change the way they care for their animals to comply with the new law - most people already provide for their pet's needs.
The law is not designed to catch people out - only to help protect animals that do not receive proper care.'

Dogs who face the gas chamber
- Saving Georgia Dogs
- Every day when I'm reposting bulletins on myspace, I see a seemingly endless list of beautiful dogs. Photo after photo of dogs who have run out of time, and are about to be gassed in Georgia's dog pounds. There are no words to describe the sadness and the tragedy of this.
Please visit Saving Georgia Dogs website. They need your help.

The killing of stray dogs in Egypt

There are sadly so many campaigns and stories about animal abuse worldwide, every day! This is just one recent campaign to help stop the killing of stray dogs in Egypt.
WARNING: The links I have listed here contain graphic images which you may find upsetting. Although I am totally comitted to this cause, and I am encouraging people to help, I don't want people here on Squidoo to suddenly be faced with disturbing images without being forewarned!

Sri Lankan Dogs Appeal
Imagine a place where puppies are placed in gas chambers or have their eyes pecked out by crows on a rubbish tip. A place where dogs are beaten, doused with fuel, mutilated, stoned, scalded with boiling water or stabbed with pole syringes carrying strychnine. A place where pet dogs spend their entire lives tethered outside, often with rope embedded in the necks, or imprisoned in small cages until they die. Imagine a place where cattle are pickaxed to death, many giving birth during the carnage, whist others facing the same brutal fate, watch and wait in silence for their turn. This horror of all horrors is the daily reality for the animals of Sri Lanka.
