INTRODUCTION

Hi
Welcome to my first lens, assuming all goes well when I hit PUBLISH.
I thought I would dip into the ocean of poetry, and introduce you to my website thefuneralpoem.com that features my funeral poems about loss.
On the saddest of days, and at the most tragic of times, it is sometimes possible to find or write, an appropriate poem that may resonate within you. In my opinion, such a poem, may act as a balm to the fractured soul.
Like others before me, I began writing poems late in life, during a period of serious illness. The first poem I wrote was "I Am Not Gone".
Some months after writing this poem a friend and neighbour passed away. After a suitable period of time, I gave a copy of this poem to his widow. She felt the poem had been written especially for her. She subsequently made, and posted further copies to her children, one of whom lived on the other side of the world. On learning this, I planned to make my poems of loss easily available through the web.

"I AM NOT GONE'

I am not gone
While you cry with me
I am not gone
While you smile with me
I am not gone
While you remember with me

I will come
When you call my name
I will come
When I feel your pain
I will come
On your final day

It could never be
That we
Would never be

We shall always
Be together
Forever

I am not gone

I loved your poems, and especially, "I Am Not Gone" and "Golden Moments" ... Your words are a reminder of how fleeting life is. The pain of losing the people we love is all around us, and our number is anytime. For this there must be sadness, for we so wanted to stay.
