Motown cast a shadow far deeper than most people think. Great lens, we really need to help raise the awareness of this unfortunately rapidly fading era in music.

I was a teen when Motown became the sound of the era. I'll always be a fan of The Temptations.

My favorite type of music is Blues which is the one that gave birth to the Motown. It's a wonderful lens on a bunch of my favorite tunes and artists!
    Blessed by an Angel.

What a great information-packed, gorgeously-built lens on the Funk Brothers and Motown in general. I need to bookmark this one so I can fully appreciate all the information you've shared on here. *blessed by an angel*

You're so right. When I think about "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", it's the music that does it for me. Anybody could have sung the song over that groove and it would still be magic.

Wow - And I thought I "knew Motown" before coming here. Thanks for the experience.

awesome informative, interesting lens! I didn't know about the Funk Brothers before. Now I think I'll branch out a bit from James Brown and the Brothers Johnson :-)

Thanks for the advice Susanna, I'll add a table of contents--and thanks for the blessing.[in reply to susannaduffy]

Fabulous lens. 'Contents at a Glance' would make it easier to read, or a Table of Contents. In any case, it's lovely. Blessed by a Squid Angel today. (squidoo.com/september-blessings )

What a wealth of quality info on some of the best music ever to come out of the USA (and of course the competition is steep on that front!). 5***** and an inspiration to music lovers. Rolling to my music lenses.

Great lens! I wasn't around during most of this time period. I actually refer to it as my fathers generation. However, I do have a good appreciation for the music. I prefer the music of this era above 90% of anything produced in todays music.
Thanks for lensrolling my Music of the 1960's lens, I also lensrolled this one to it as well.

American Idol is fairly popular in Japan. Those who watch it are mainly of the female persuasion, so the good looking guys like Adam are of course popular. One problem is that we get the show a couple of weeks behind real time so I have to avoid Idol news on the internet as much as possible.[in reply to CardLady]

What a beautifully made fan page. I learned a lot about the music I grew up with!

Thanks for your comment on my Adam Lambert fan page. Is AI popular in Japan?

This was a truly comprehensive and utterly fascinating lens. Although I am still a fairly young man, I have been a big fan of Motown for many years and actually frequent Detroit quite a bit. Fantastic job and I'm so glad you guys got a chance to use the Lamb Burger recipe. Good stuff, isn't it.
