Wellies - They Just Don't Make Them Like They Used To.

Not so long ago, wellies were the most boring item of footwear imaginable. There were not many choices of colour, let alone style. And it is most likely that any shops selling welly boots could only offer you dull green or bleak black. Funky wellies were just not heard of back then.

I can recall as a child preferring to ruin my trainers in the mud than don a pair of dowdy, un-cool welly boots (as I saw them then). Even as a 'twenty something' I would be horrified to be 'spotted out' wearing my wellies. They just weren't the look to be seen in. But things are changing dramatically for wellies...funky wellies are storming their way into the fashion world...and fast.

In the past couple of years good old welly boots have had a new lease of life and they're fast becoming a very popular item of footwear for all ages and sizes.

Dog lovers, urban commuters, horse lovers and festival fan's all enjoy the many and varied style that wellies can bring us these days.
Just a walk down your local high street will show you a vast array of funky wellies in colourful window displays.

So, I've had to wait till I'm a 'thirty something' before I get my chance to welly it with style. But I have to say, it's been worth the wait.

Right about now, I'm preparing with the rest of the UK to enjoy all the summer events lined up this year. Festivals, fairs, family days out. We all hope and pray for the sun of course, but there is no doubt we'll see some rainy days too. It just wouldn't be a British summer without some mud and rain now would it? And if there's one place you can practically guarantee you'll see mud and rain it's Glastonbury festival!

So Should My Look For The Summer Be A Plain Jane Style?
Of course, I could forget about style, and what I look like, and indeed what other people think of what I look like.
I could opt to carry on regardless with the traditional style welly boots, enroll in the welly brigade and get mistaken for a fisherman. But I think I deserve better than that.

Or Should I Opt For Some Designer Welly Style?
When it comes down to it, there's no excuse to miss out on the new trend in funky wellies. There's so many out there to suit your own individual style and tastes. Even the celebrities get in on the act these days with big names like Kate Moss, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen all making a statement with their wellies.

Welly boots are the new cool, and I just can't wait to get out there and splash in some muddy puddles!
