True story. My name is Patrick. My father's name is Patrick. His name is Patrick because his birthday falls on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day. The story as I've been told is this: as my grandmother, in labor, is being wheeled into the delivery room, she reached out and grabbed the doctor by the collar and said to him, "If this kid isn't born on St. Patrick's Day, you can keep him."
Sometime later that night my father was born. Upon examining his birth certificate, the date and time is often pointed out: March 17th, 1954 - 11:58 P.M.

Seeing as I share a common name with the saint, I own a lot of St. Patrick's Day T-Shirts. What that has to do with me sharing the name, I don't know. But it does give me a good reason to get sloppy drunk on that day and claim to be Irish.
