Fun Volleyball Drills

Ranked #1,473 in Sports & Recreation, #48,043 overall

Fun volleyball drills are essential for developing player's individual skills as well as team skills.

Here are a couple of fun volleyball drills that you can try out in your next volleyball training session.

Fun volleyball drills Number 1: Warm up One on One

Have all players on the base line of one side of the court. There are two players on court for this volleyball drill with only one player on each side. One-player servers the ball and the other player on the other side receives it. Contact with the ball can only be with the forearms and single arm hits are not permitted and each player can only contact the ball one.

The object is to continue the rally of passing the ball over the next for as long as possible until one side makes an error.

If the server wins the rally, he replaces the player on the other side while that player leaves the court and joins the rest of the other players. The servers place is filled by a new player who starts to serve.

If the server loses the rally, he leaves the court while the opposing player scores a point and continues to face a new opponent.

Fun Volleyball Drills Number 2: The 2 on 6 Challenge.

Not only is the volleyball drill heaps of fun but it also teaches players to be extremely responsive and determines.

Start with two players on one side of the court playing against an opposing team of 6!
The team of six can only win a point if the ball lands within a couple of feet from an opposing player.

In order for the team of two to be successful they have to be extremely focussed and learn to read the opposing play as well as communicating with each other to ensure a strong defense.

After a couple of rounds, depending on the fitness of your players, substitute the two players for another pair and continue until everyone has had a go.
