How to Move furniture
Moving furniture from one place to another with getting it damaged is a art best practiced by professional movers. There is a lot more to it than just picking it up and load into a van or truck. Depending on the furniture item, some may have to be taken apart and reassembled. They may have to be carefully wrapped and protected to avoid scrapes and scratches.
Guide to Moving Furniture
The Basics of Furniture Removals
If you have move before then you should have a idea of how tedious it is to move your furniture from one house to the next. Furniture can easily get scratched and damaged if not handled properly during the moving process, and most removal companies will charge a fee to pick up and transport it to your new property. The ideal case is that you manage to find a answer to spare your back and save some money too.Not everybody wants to contract a professional removal company; cheap or budget moving companies very often do for the matter. You can check the local news papers, or even online classifieds such as GumTree or Craigslist etc. for man and van services. They usually charge by the hour and will help you with the lifting too. This is the time to ring some friends for help, as you'll have to do your share of heavy labour too. The downside to this is that this type of services is not bond by a contract.
As we have already pointed out, furniture can deteriorate during the move, how can you prevent this from happening? Some furniture items such as wardrobes and book shelves etc can be taken apart and reassembled at your new property, this makes it a lot easier to transport and drastically reduces the risk of damages. The only hard thing is that you'll have to set the furniture up again in your new home, and this takes time, patience and some skill too.
Having adequate insurance for your belongings is highly recommended whether you are using a professional mover or a man and van service. As stressful as the replacement of broken goods may seem, the effort is worth it, not to mention that the proper insurance coverage is possible. Do not leave before the truck with furniture; all the objects should be loaded in your presence or under the watch of a representative. Do not sign any paperwork without reading it first, even if you are pressed by time, ignoring such an important aspect as you may bring a lot of trouble in the future.
Last but not least, one other option for moving furniture is to rent a truck and drive it yourself, but under the circumstances you will probably need to turn to the services of a professional loader to help you get through with the whole operation. Supervising is an important aspect here too as you can assist the loaders with proper indications about how to order the piece of furniture in the truck; thus, opting to place the larger objects at the back is probably the best idea for the unpacking. - If I want to move my furniture myself do movers still offer packing materials and insurance for this? I think I have read somewhere that they won't accept liability for broken items if they dnt pack it.
