Organizing Your Super Bowl Party

NFLâ„¢ Party Zone Centerpiece

After we figure out how many of our friends and family will be attending, we can start to make our lists. Many of the foods eaten at a traditional football party are - chips, dips, sour cream, cheese dips, nachos, salsa, hot wings, pizza.

No matter which foods you choose, try to pick ones that are easy and can be prepared ahead of time. No one wants to miss the big play because they were stuck in the kitchen!

Super Bowl parties have become much more than a gathering of football lovers. In fact, many people attending these parties don't love football as much as they love the excuse to get together with friends at the end of the of January.

Whether you're planning a Super Bowl party out of love for the game or just the desire to host a fun, relaxing party, here are tips for making this a super bash.

  • Plan simple, portable foods. A buffet is the best option. Nobody wants to be sitting down at a table to eat when they'd rather be cheering/screaming at a television.

  • Prepare as much in advance as you can so you can enjoy the game and of course your company!

  • Set small tables around the seating area to hold plates and drinks.

  • Plan on plenty of beverages. With all the snacks severed, people are going to need to wash them down! (we've always had beer around and root beer for the kids)

  • Have lots of paper towels, napkins and rug cleaner handy for messes created during exciting plays.

    For The Not-So-Much Football Fans

Every year there are usually one or two people that really don't know the rules or have much interest in the game. Instead of forcing them into kitchen duty, try this suggestion.

Make a form for each person and pass them out as they arrive.
    Here are some sample questions:
How long the game will last?
    Which team will score first?
    Which team will score last?
Do you think there will be a score after the final 2 minute warning?
Which team will have possession at the end of the 1st half?
During which half of the game will the most points be scored?
Total points scored separately by each team?
    Who will win the game?

...and anything else you can think of that doesn't really relate to how the game is played.

After the game is over total up all correct answers. The person who has the most correct answers wins a small gag gift (Rule Book, Nerf Ball.. Something fun that relates to football). In the event of a tie.. Flip a coin! Pick a number! Or Rock, Paper, Scissors!
