The Game Console versus PC debate

This is one debate that has been raging on for years ever since consoles started to fight for the bigger share of the gaming market.

But, which one will win overall?

Are you a video gamer?
What do you prefer to play games on?
Which is the cheaper and the most reliable platform to play video games?
Why is this?

Join in with this debate, NOW!

Why I would choose Game Consoles

I would choose game consoles every time to play my video games on!

Why? Because, they were designed specifically for the job.

No expensive upgrading.
No jittery graphics or gameplay.
No excessive loading times.

I use my PC to research for my writing and reviewing, surf the internet and work on Squidoo! It just doesn't have adequate specs to play games on although I have contemplated it several times. However, it would be way too expensive to upgrade it so I'm sticking with what I know best and love: video consoles :)

Game Consoles without a doubt!

Janusz says:

For Strategy Games & ones that offer Online battles.. I´d go for PC. I prefer my PS3 & Xbox360 for playing Soccer games, since I play these more than Strategy, I choose Games console.

blumoondew says:

Yes definitely - keeps my kids away from my computer...

inkserotica says:

Well, you know my thoughts! But, I'm happy to repeat them :) Game consoles are definitely better than PC's to play games! Like I said, no upgrading and no stuttery graphics or game play. There are plenty more reasons, of course, but I don't want to take over the whole argument ;)

Pfft! PC's are better!

RickyRobi says:

For me, it depends on the game. Some games do better on consoles and some such as simulation games (The Sims games) do better on PC.

JaguarJulie says:

I have never owned a game console, only a PC so that'd be the way that I would vote as PCs these days are so much better than years ago old-fashioned computers.

Chadrew says:

- PCs have better graphics. (Okay. You do have to spend more money for that).
- PCs have superior controllers (nothing beats a keyboard and a mouse, for FPS/strategies/MMOs at least)
- PCs have all the MMORPGs (which I'm a big fan of, so that's a completely personal opinion).
- If I upgrade my PC, not only games, but other programs run better as well.

The Game or the Platform?

I just want to see how important you think these are!

As quoted by one gamer...

'The platform that the games play on is unimportant to me. The games are all that's important.'

What is more important? The Game or the Platform?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

The Game! Worry about where you're going to play it afterwards.

RickyRobi says:

I have an xbox 360, a PC (game quality) and a NDS. So, I don't worry too much. I just look for a game I like.

Chadrew says:

Definitely the game.

The Platform. Duh! What's the use of a game if you have nothing to play it on?

inkserotica says:

I would have to say the Platform at the moment. I can't afford to buy games that I don't have the platform for in order to play it no matter how badly I want the game. I have 10 consoles approx. and have more than enough choice for games :)

SudokuNut says:

I just can't get into playing anything other than cheap n' cheerful flash games on the PC. The game is obviously the most important thing but I'd rather play it on a console rather than a PC...not least because I don't want to spend $$$ no a dedicated game system or upgrading an existing PC to run the game as it should be ran.

Very interesting debate. My grandson enjoys playing games on my computer but mostly uses the TV for his PS3. You have some very valid points here.

Well, I'll vote for PC since online games where you can chat it up while you slay the dragon are the only ones that ever held my attention for long. ;)

in reply to SudokuNut I totally agree though my problem is not having enough friends to play games with! I'm all alone with my consoles...not that I mind too much ;)

Y'know another thing I like about game consoles is you can sit on your couch and play on your big screen TV rather than a itty bitty monitor...or play social games with friends in your living room - comfortably.
