Game Testing Jobs
Knowing where to find these jobs is key. All you need to do is know where to go and then you can start applying for the jobs that you think fit your skill set.
Of course, knowing what type of game testing gig you want and how to get noticed when you apply are key factors in this process.
There are different kinds of game testing jobs that you can get. For example, you can test games on consoles like PS3. You can also test games for companies that distribute mobile games. Then of course there are the developers who work on pc based games.
Ok so you've decided what games you most enjoy playing and therefore what games you would most enjoy testing.
So now you need to know how to apply. Most gaming companies want you to use their online application or a resume. Either way, you should have a resume. The resume can then be used to fill in the blanks on an online application. When you're putting together this resume it's really important to make sure that you show you have the key skills required to be selected for the position. You can review a job posting and then make sure that you have those skills and you have them listed on your resume in a clear, concise manner.
So now the actual search begins.
There are so many job search boards that you can now choose from. You have for example Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, and Flipdog.com just to name a few. So you go to their website, and type in game tester. Select your city/state where you want to work and search away.
Gamasutra.com is one of the sites that I consider to be the best for game job opportunities. They work with major developers and have a large array of positions open at any given time.
Another great site I have used is Employment911.com. They actually show postings from all the other sites I mentioned above and it's all in one place on one page. So you just type in your positions wanted, select your state and search away.
Another option that might work well for you is a paid membership option. Now there are a lot of choices out there on which paid route to take. My biggest suggestion is know who the company is that you're getting involved with and know that there is someone else on the other end who actually cares. Regardless of if you buy something or not. That is always key for me. If I email a site and they respond to me, then I know there is someone there listening and willing to help.
So now that you see you have all these options to help you gain the job you want, don't wait another minute. Get out there and get started testing today!
