Having a hard time finding a good game?

As  baby boomers it has been a challenge to find online games that  we enjoy. Games for Boomers is a blog site that reviews games for boomers.  There are certain features in a game that make it especially suited for boomers.

For example we aren't that crazy about beating the clock in a game.  Hey we're not trying to be pro gaming champs.  We just want to get through the game without some timer shutting it down before we finished.

To hell with movies let's see great TV series

Find the very best TV series old and new

I love watching TV series on DVDs through Netflix. You avoid all those commercials and if you are following a really exciting series such as "The Shield" or "24", then you can watch 3-4 episodes at once.

No more waiting a week then falling asleep 20 minutes before the show starts. Here is what I recommend:

001- Towelhead

Based on Alicia Erian's novel, this coming-of-age tale follows the topsy-turvy life of Jasira (Summe...
002- Wire in the Blood: Season 2: Disc 2

This disc includes the episode "The Darkness of Light."
003- Charmed: Season 1: Disc 1

This disc includes the following episodes: "Something Wicca This Way Comes," "I've Got You Under My...
004- Veronica Mars: Season 1: Disc 1

Mah Jong, My Dear?

Another great boomer game

Mah Jong Medley is a great set of games, I'ver never really counted but it must have a hundred or more games. It is a soothing game with wonderful music. I got it with Game Pass. You have a choice of Classic Mah Jong, Solitarie, Freecell and adding Ten games.

After trying a few games, if you're like me you'll have a few favorites that you play every day. My favorite is in the Freecell section. It is a difficult game that I win less that 50% of the time but I don't get discouraged because it's fun. It is called rectangle and contains 288 tiles that must be matched. There is a free spot to move tiles, that helps a little but it is difficult to win.

I find it's a great way to unwind from the day to play a little Mah Jong . It is simply a matching game. After awhile you can recognise the Chinese characters or you can switch to tiles with easier patterns.

Sudoku - 7 Easy Steps to Win Sudoku Puzzles

A great play but how do you play it?

Sudoku puzzles have become all the rage now. They are quick time fillers when you're waiting for a bus or taking a break at work.

And even better this type of game may help to keep your brain healthy. Boomers are always on the lookout for fun games to exercise those brain cells. Sudoku fills the bill.

But Sudoku puzzles are fun for anyone at any age. Here is an simple strategy to win easy type of sudoku puzzles.

1. The object of Sudoku is to fill in the missing numbers and there is only one correct place for each number in each row either across or up/down.

2. Start with the upper left block of 9 squares. Always work with just one block of 9 squares to fill in missing numbers.

3. Decide on the number you want to fill in. It may be best to look for the lowest number missing and go up as needed. In this example we'll use number 1 as the first missing number. Look across and down in all 6 rows for number 1. If you find 1 anywhere in any row, then eliminate that square (or those squares) as a possible choice for number 1.

4. After doing this with all 6 rows, if only one square remains as possible in that block of 9 then put number 1 in that square. This is the main point of this strategy. You are looking for numbers that have only one possible choice of squares to fill in within that block of 9. You do this by the process of elimination. Remember there is only one correct square for each number in each block.

5. If, after checking all 6 rows across and up/down, there are 2 or more possible choices for number 1 then skip that number for now. You must reduce the number of squares that number 1 can be placed in to only one possible square. You do that by checking all 6 rows for that number and eliminating squares in rows that already have number 1. You will go back later and fill in any numbers you had to skip.

6. Repeat steps in this block for each missing number. Then proceed to the block below (or next ) to this block in the sudoku puzzle. Repeat steps with the next block of 9 squares.

7. As more blocks are filled in you can go back and fill in the squares you had to skip. You'll find it much easier to fill in now.

This simple strategy will help you complete easy Sudoku puzzles....have fun!

DaVinci's Secret, You Don't Want To Miss This Great Game

If you're looking for a great game then you must try DaVinci's Secret. An exceptional game for all ages...

DaVinci's Secret is truly a great game but don't mistakenly get DaVinci's Code (that is not a great game). DaVinci's Secret is a puzzle game. It is the kind of game you can play over and over because it is both challenging and relaxing. Baby boomers will enjoy it but so will anyone who likes a good puzzle game.

The idea is to solve puzzles by removing balls by matching 3 balls of the same color. After clearing a path for the key to the lock (or multiple keys and locks) that level is solved.

A pleasant change from many matching 3 ball games is the format which is not the usual long moving line of balls type of format. Instead you enter a room and complete the steps. The balls are scattered all over the room not in one line.

Each level room is located in a different European city. With a nice graphic map taking you from one city to another. There is interesting chanting type music that enhances the medieval environment. DaVinci's Secret has very nice graphics creating a mood that one is in some type of medieval monastery. It is a very nice looking game.

On some levels they will give you a four part knight's shield to assemble in that room. This can be more challenging then fitting the keys into the locks. A problem can arise if you have fitted one piece of the shield only to discover you have blocked an entry to adding another part of the shield.

There are no time limits to complete the levels. This is an excellent feature that more games should include. Not everyone wants to play beat the clock. If the puzzle is interesting enough, a timed feature can be annoying. Another good feature is the ability to re-play any level. No more going through lower, less challenging levels to get to the good levels. Again all games should include this feature.

All these game features as well as the creative play design of DaVinci's Secret and exceptional graphics makes it one of the best games around. You'll find many hours of enjoyment. It's a game that you'll continue to play over the years. Highly recommended.
