My take on the Next Gen Systems

Xbox 360

With all the controversy I see between gamers on which system is, and will be better I would like to put in my two cents, starting with the Xbox360. I love it. So far I love every aspect of it, especially the XBox live arcade. I have my own little gamer tag and I can play all the old games and a bunch of quick games. I am a girl so it's hard to keep up with a long intense game. I lose interest or just can't usually make the time to really put into it. With the Live arcade games they are mostly short and I can just get up and quit without losing valuable unsaved info. I try my hardest to get achievements, but again I can get frustrated and just give up. As for the standard games that come out for the system, I like the puzzle games and co-op games myself, and I really enjoy watching my fiancé play the more elaborate games. Watching him beat zombies with their own legs and being dressed up with a teddy bear head was rather exciting. When it comes to the more dramatic games, I would just get way too frustrated trying to do some of the things he has to do. My favorite game thus far is Samurai Warriors. We worked together and killed all the ancient Japanese dudes. We did have some problems with the system here recently and had to have it sent in to repair. Surprisingly it was only a two week turn around and everything was back to normal. The fact that you don't lose info and don't have to set everything up again is great. We kept the hard drive and that was everything.

The next gens

Wii

The Nintendo Wii is the ultimate family system by far. After Thanksgiving dinner, which I made myself (Go Me) I had my step son, Nate (10), my brother, Ray (19) and my mother-in-law (Not Young) playing Wii sports all afternoon. I have actually worn myself out playing that game. My favorite is the bowling. It's like practice. I've also made Mii's of all my immediate family and friends and even human versions of my cats. They have a much more limited selection on their version of the arcade, but I have still managed to find some I really like playing. I've convinced two of my co-workers to get a Wii for their household. We've been pretty hit and miss with the games they have out thus far. We've tried Tony Hawk, Red Steel, SSX and some others. I was the cheerleader for Tony Hawk Downhill Jam. I think I forced Jeff to play at least an extra hour longer than he would of on his own. I convinced him to try again and again. I was no good at it, but he definitely seemed to get the hang of it and I think he enjoyed it. Red Steel is a little slow, even for me to watch him play. He was really wobbly at first and now he's pretty good, but it's not a great one to watch someone play. Now with the new SSX Blur I thought he was going to purposely throw the Wii remote at the TV. That one seemed to irritate him just a tad. Apparently the controls suck. We've also had a problem with the Wii and had to replace it. They were really nice and sent us a new one and then had us return the other in the same box. We didn't have to lose a day without it, but anything we would have purchased would have been long gone. All your information is connected to the system itself. I'm glad we didn't really have anything on it yet, but I really think they should do something about changing that. I really like the system and look forward to seeing what comes out for it. In the mean time I will check the weather, the news and vote on all kinds of senseless things.

The next gens

PS3

Now for the super PS3. We finnaly got one not too long ago. We waited until they came out with the cheaper 4gig one that's not backwards compatible. It was actually the cheapest BluRay player out there at the time too. So far I love the BluRay movies. The games have been okay so far except one that my husband really enjoyed and I liked watching. That game is Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. It's was beautiful. Otherwise the system itself has not been that amazing. The main menu seems confusing to navigate and it takes forever to download a game and then install the game and eventually be able to play it. The controller is so light I feel like I might break it. We have a few games for it now, but I still have to say I like my Xbox 360 better. Maybe if they come up with achievements or something for the PS3 I might become compelled to play it, but for right now I'll just sit back at watch.

That concludes my two cents on the next gen's. I just have to say I love playing and watching video games no matter what system their on. We have so many you could easily impress me with any on of them.
