Gandalf...or Potter?
Gandalf vs Harry Potter
These are probably the two coolest wizards ever, right? But, who's the best--Gandalf or Harry?
Who's Gandalf?
If you don't know, you're in trouble...
Gandalf is a fictional character that appears in the novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, written by J. R. R. Tolkien. In these stories, Gandalf appears as an archetypal wizard taking a key role in the latter book's War of the Ring. He is a member and later the head, after Saruman's betrayal and fall, of the order known as the Istari, as well as leader of the Fellowship of the Ring and the army of the West.

Harry Potter's Biography
About Harry Potter
Harry James Potter is the title character and the main protagonist of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter fantasy series. The books cover seven years in the life of the lonely orphan who, on his eleventh birthday, learns he is a wizard. He attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magic. Under the guidance of the kindly headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Harry discovers that he is already famous throughout the Wizarding world, and that his fate is tied with that of Lord Voldemort, the universally feared Dark wizard who killed Harry's mother and father. Voldemort was believed to have been killed by the rebounding curse intended for the one year old Harry.

Harry Potter just seems too young to beat Gandalf. But the question is of course moot: they would love, not hate when meeting each other :)

Isitar Nandaro says:
As much as I like Harry, Gandalf is definately far far more powerful. But then you cannot compare the two. Harry is nowhere close to being in Gandalf's league. After all Harry is a mere human whereas Gandalf is one of the Maia. Oh and by the way a Maia is not an angel Wussok. The Lord of the Rings has no connectiosn to Christianity. In fact Eru Ilúvatar and the Ainur created the Universe. Of the Ainur you have the greater Valar and the lesser Maiar who serve the Valar. Gandalf was a Maiar and while not as powerful as a Valar he is still a divine being.
Just as Gandalf could kick Harry's butt, a Maiar would easily kick an Christian Angel's butt.

Gandalf is the better for he not just a wizard but an immortal spirit called a maia who was born at the beginning of time and is more powerful and wise than Albus Dumbledore let alone Harry Potter

Gandalf is just way out of Harry's league. He is one of the Maya, with untold powers. Harry is just a geeky kid from some English suburb.

Chadrew says:
Well, in a fight, Gandalf would mop the floor with Harry. In the original books, Harry is a weakling that wins due to a lucky chance... Err, power of love and all that.
I enjoyed Harry Potter more than Lord of the Rings. Especially the fact that it spawned so much cool fanfiction ;)
Still, Gandalf is stronger than Harry!

Harry!
ZachG says:
That is a very good idea, I think it would indeed be better if Gandalf faced Dumbledore. I've made a lens about that.
Thanks!

So Then, Who's the Winner?
Who's the coolest wizard?
I Think Gandalf Wins...
Although Harry could be a tough competitor
Although, Harry's pretty cool too. He's got some pretty sweet spells under his sleeve (or should I say, in his wand?) and could prove to be a pretty good challenge for Gandalf. If the two were to come together for a fight, who would win? Honestly, I couldn't say. Though, I'm leaning a bit toward Gandalf...But my opinion's a bit biased I think...
