Year Round Garage Sales

Garage saleing is entertainment for our family. We love talking with and getting to know people. It's amazing what fun you can have as a family with a few dollars to spend. It's like a scavenger hunt in the car. My kids and I love to go garage saleing.

We also enjoy hosting our own garage sales in the spring, summer and fall. It is a lot of work to organize and set up. It is also a cleansing experience to go through toys, clothes, books and household items and to see the smiles on those who find these new treasures. 

The kids learn to make change, barter, and spend money wisely. More importantly, they are developing people skills as well as entrepreneurial skills. The kids even sell ice cold soda in a cooler as well as home made baked goods or candy for the little ones.

We usually do very well at our garage sales. We have made anywhere from $200- $800. Not bad for 2 days work.

When holding a garage sale you have to get in the mood. Play some oldies music, talk to your customers and don't push but let them know you are there to help them if they have any questions.

We hang signs that say "No reasonable offer refused". Too many times I have gone to a garage sale and the owner seems put out by the customers, or hides behind a book reading, or there's no wiggle room to barter.  That's the fun of it.

Have FUN!  It's an adventure. You don't know what you will find or who you will meet as you are saving money on items you will enjoy...until you sell them at your garage sale!

    Yard Sale has always been an American tradition. It is fun and enjoyable. Garage sales are the best thing for cost effective spenders. No matter what they call it, it is just making smart choices with the money you have to spend.
