A garden party can be so much fun! Get a few friends together to celebrate the plants and flowers growing in your garden. You may have to do a little extra weeding and planting in preparation, but you will be so proud when all your friends are ooohing and ahhhing over your beautiful plants.

A garden party can serve so many purposes. You can have a garden luncheon or tea for a few friends, or a garden cookout with friends and family. A garden party is also an excellent idea for a bridal or baby shower.

Have everyone bring their favorite garden, or herbal dish, and copies of the recipes to share. Have a contest for the cutest garden hat. Tell everyone on the invitation to decorate a garden hat for a possible prize. Let everyone judge the best hat.

Here are some additional ideas and supplies to help make your next garden party a huge success.

Plan a Garden Swap Party

This spring get together with friends and have a garden (or plant) swap. Have everyone bring at least two things they have an over-abundance of to swap for things they may need in their own garden.

Some people may be better at saving seeds, others may have too many of some types of perennials, or they may have planted too many tomato seedlings. When you get together and swap everyone wins.

Besides swapping seeds and plants you can also swap garden recipes and stories. Make a garden swapping party out of it and have everyone bring their favorite garden dish or dessert, and the recipe to trade and share.

Gardeners always like to tell stories and share great photos. After everyone is done trading, settle in with a cup of herbal tea and talk about your plans for the new gardening season.
