Bottle holds up to three pounds of sand (sold separately) and measures 7" high. The large heart vases each measure 9.75" high, the small heart vase measures 8.5" high, and the metal stand measures 4.5" high.

The third vase could be used by your officiant to represent your shared beliefs, or by a child to represent family unity. To include more than one child, you may order additional small heart vases. The heart bottle will accommodate approximately 3 pounds of colored sand which is available separately.

Unity Sand Ceremony

The unity sand ceremony is an alternative to a unity candle ceremony. The essence is to symbolize the union of "two into one".

This sand version is not only beautiful and interesting but also works well for an outdoor setting (no candles to have the wind help blow out).

With the addition of fresh flowers, the distinctive side vases will make an intriguing addition to a home's decor after the wedding.

How it works

1. Begin the ceremony by having the designated individual(s) pour the entire contents of the "Symbol" vase into the central heart bottle. This can happen at the beginning of the wedding, during the candle lighting or prior to the sand ceremony. As often done with the unity candle ceremony, the two mothers could pour the sand, if you wish. When an officiant pours white sand in first, it symbolizes the importance and stability of the couple's faith in the relationship. The vase could also be used by a child to create a family vase.
2. The Groom will begin by pouring a portion of his colored sand into the central bottle.
3. The Bride will follow by pouring a portion of her colored sand into the central bottle, creating a layered effect.
4. To complete the ceremony, the groom and bride keep layering and then simultaneously pour the balance of their sand into the central container together. The co-mingling of the colored sand represents the joining of the bride and groom.
5. If children are involved, at this point the children each pour sand to represent becoming part of the new family.
6. Cover the top with the stopper.
7. Consult with your wedding officiant in order to customize the readings and sentiments that will accompany the ceremony.
8. Following the wedding, the smaller outside vases can be used to display fresh flowers while the central vase will remain a cherished keepsake of your wedding day. The third vase could be a thoughtful gift to your officiant with a flower added.

Pouring Tip:

Stagger the vases when pouring to gain better control. Or create a funnel using decorative paper. Many couples choose to write their vows or special words on the paper and roll it to form a cone.
