The Garden Groom

The Garden Groom is mainly for trimming hedges and bushes that are small and have no large branches. Probably any less than half an inch is okay. Bushes such as rosemary and hedges that have small leaves, even arbor vitae are good candidates for the Garden Groom. There are many varieties of plants also that can be managed by the Garden Groom. Vines are another use for the Garden Groom. The leaves and stems are quite small or floppy and can be trimmed right up. And the fact that the Garden Groom has a built in vacuum, the cleanup for these is very easy as well. But for large hedges that have thick stems, leaves, and resemble small trees, you need to break out the bigger hedge trimmer. In short, having a Garden Groom available makes your job at least that much easier. Not all of your hedges need a large hedge trimmer. Even if half of them do, you still have cut your workload by quite a bit.

Clean up is a snap with the Garden Groom. The blades create a suction that takes the cuttings into the on board container. When it's full, empty it in the trash can, or better still, your compost or mulch pile. If you ever have cleaned up after trimming, you know what a pain it can be to clean up.

Less cleanup time means more time to spend with your family or do other things! How cool is that?

Now the Garden Groom has its place, and it sure is a fine addition to your garden tool shed. But if you have a few larger hedges that have branches or stems that are over half an inch, you may need to hang on to your old trimmer, or purchase one. But again, even if this is true, you still have cut your trimming time by quite a large margin by using the Garden Groom.

There are some good cordless hedge trimmers that can cut up to 3/4 of an inch. That should be enough for most home garden hedges and bushes. If you need to go bigger, go bigger.

Clean Up Tip
If you are going to trim a hedge without the Garden Groom, clean up can be a mess. Here's a big tip: Place an old sheet or bedspread on the ground just below and around the bush or hedge you are going to trim. The cuttings will fall onto the sheet or bedspread making cleanup a breeze! When done, simply fold the material around the cuttings and take to the garbage can. No fuss, no muss!

Trimming Big Hedge Tip
If you have an overgrown bush or hedge, do not trim it with power tools. You will cut the leaves in half and tear the branches. This will make your hedge or bush look terrible and susceptible to bugs and disease. Instead, use hand pruners to cut the branches neatly back. Shape it the way you want it to grow. Eventually, all hedges that can get big, will get big and hand pruning is a must. Remember, make nice clean cuts, no rips or tears.
