Very nice! I remember going to the Topiary Garden in Columbus. I'm sure I've been to others but don't remember. I lived in Beaver Creek for the first 7 years of my life. We probably didn't need to visit too many gardens because my father had a lovely rose garden in our back yard. Blessed and liked.

What a stunning lens! I'm from Ohio and although my mother moved us to California when I was little, I spent every summer in Akron with my grandparents until I was 16. I went back often all my life to visit my father who lived in Cleveland until he got sick and I brought him to live with me in 2008. My mother (who was an avid gardener) used to go to parties at Stan Hewyt Hall when she was in college. This was a great nostalgic trip down memory lane for me. Thank you so much!

Congrats on your LOTD. I love gardens. Unfortunately, the only days I've spent in Ohio were working weekends with no time to see anything but the convention center downtown, my motel, and the immediate surroundings. Didn't know about the gardens back then. I wish more of you pictures had loaded. I was only able to see a few of them.
  • Ilona1 Jul 14, 2011 @ 8:14 am | delete
Sometimes refreshing the page will help load the pictures. Next time you visit just travel straight up High Street to visit the Park of Roses. There are some good ethnic restaurants on the route, as well.
  • MaxReily Jul 3, 2011 @ 12:45 am | delete
Beautiful lens! Since I live in Ohio, I've seen a few of these--Kingwood Center, and Franklin Park Conservatory, and since it's close to where I live, I've visited the lovely Dawes Arboretum many times! Well deserved LOTD, congratulations!
  • SudokuNut Jul 2, 2011 @ 3:54 pm | delete
How beautiful! I miss seeing real gardens like this. Here in Nevada it's more dust and rocks and a real bear to keep anything green. I'll have to make a special effort to visit Ohio one day. Thanks for sharing!
  • Katherine89135 Jun 28, 2011 @ 6:55 pm | delete
Ohio certainly has beautiful gardens! I would love to visit them sometime! I think my favorite picture is of the Herb Garden at Inniswood.

I'm from Ohio, too, and I've experienced some of these gardens. Also interesting if you're in the area is the rose garden at the OARDC campus of Ohio State in Wooster. There were various gardens and a lovely arboretum until the tornado of Sept 2010 ripped through. Many of the large, old trees were destroyed. It was a sad, sad day for many of us.
  • Ilona1 Jun 19, 2011 @ 7:45 am | delete
oh I am so sorry to hear that- that is truly sad. While the trees cannot soon be replaced, I hope they restore the garden.

I really like the Bench in the Flowers, that looks like a Good place for Serinty, Peace and Connecting with Nature; the Sights, Sounds and the Feeling!! These are not the Garden I was expecting to find, they are Much Better! :)

It was SO lovely to see all my beloved Ohio's gardens.........particularly those in the Central Ohio area where I lived my whole life (Granville) before moving to Florida a few years ago. Of course, Dawes was the closest, but I've also spent countless hours at Inniswood Metro Park, Columbus Park of Roses, Kingwood Center and Franklin Park Conservatory as well. It really warmed my heart to see your beautiful lens. Thank you! :)

Congratulations on LOTD!!! :-) My southern-fried, thin blood would never survive those cold Ohio winters! The gardens look gorgeous, and I've seen a lot of other photos of Ohio that are beautiful also. It looks like you did a lot of research and hard work on this lens -- great job!!

I was born and raised in Ohio in the Cleveland and Akron areas. I never visited the Seiberling mansion, I am sad to say. I live in Florida now and miss the Fall and spring time the most. Beautiful lens, nice work.

When I go abroad to a big city, I always make it a point of visiting at least one of their parks. It's just so relaxing and comforting for the soul and mind!
