Garfield is one cool cat, known for his lazy ways, huge appetite, dieting and dislike of Mondays. In 1978, Garfield was 'born,' created by Jim Davis in a comic strip and since then he has appeared in several television shows and series and five movies. He has spawned an endless source of merchandise and he has proven to be timeless.

Garfield is still very popular today so it was no surprise that, when I went looking for a Garfield coffee mug, there was no shortage of choice. Collectors can chose between a brand-new and a vintage coffee mug.

Garfield's Hot Spot Mug Warmer Set

Garfield's Hot Spot Mug Warmer Set, shown here in a picture by vintagelandenberg, is the neatest Garfield mug that I have seen. As a matter of fact, it is simply too cool for words. I've seen mug warmers before (and they are perfect for me because my tea always gets cold while I work) but I have never seen a coordinated, matching set of mug and warmer. This one takes the cake, or, perhaps since it is Garfield that we are talking about, I should say the donut.

The mug is a 12-ounce mug with a relief design and a 3D handle in the shape of Garfield's tail. The warmer is donut shaped and promises to keep your favorite hot beverage nice and warm. Features an on/off switch and an on light. This one from Amazon comes with a coffee break book.

I'm pretty sure I have a vintage Garfield mug packed away with my kitty mug collection. It's good to see that Garfield's humor is still appreciated. I always liked "Life is Uncertain, Eat Dessert First." I did a Garfield cross-stitch with that saying.
