All There Is To A Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

Product Features and Specifications

This little beauty is a compact work of technical genius, but no need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. The Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is a 700 MB GPS navigation system powerhouse. With features like an MP3/audio-book player, portable photo album/viewer and world travel clock, it's a party waiting to happen. Plus the cool thing is, it's small enough to fit in your pocket or purse for packing around. And with the aid of that little voice coming thru the speakers, once the destination is set there's really no need for constant looking at the screen to see if you are on track. It'll tell you. Although if you do glance down, you'll notice a very attractive 320 x 240 color touch screen display. And if you miss a turn, no worries, the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS knows! It'll automatically re-route you to get you back on track.

"I have been using this device for about 2 months now and I am very pleased with it. Some of the good points are: -Very accurate positioning -Easy to use -Great battery life -Good listing for POIs -Size -Auto on/off feature Some of the less then great features: -Slow boot up time -Takes a while to find position when first turned on. All is all I am very pleased with this device. I leave it in my wife's Jeep most of the time, but with the grea battery life and size I can easily pull the device off of the mount and throw it in my truck. With the good speaker volume I can program in my destination and leave it laying on the seat and just follow the voice directions without ever taking my eyes off of the road. I have not used some of the multimedia features like the MP3 player. With a XM receiver and MP3 player in my truck, I have not found the desire to load any songs onto the device. I would rather have seen bluetooth pairing instead of the multimedia features. "

Avoid Traffic With a Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

Mighty Fine and Cool Features

The portable and sleek Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is also an all in one digital entertainment system as well as a traveler's reference and navigation system. This pocket-sized whirlwind is ready to book and guide all your adventures as your personal travel agent. With it's touch-screen display, you're never further than a few taps from where you want to be.

Navigation is incredible. The Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS comes ready to perform directly out of the packaging. The Points of Interest (POIs) database thats loaded is chock-full of hotels, gas stations, ATMs, restaurants and much much more. On screen, you can either look at a 2-d or 3d modeling with voice directions that take you turn-by-turn. The voice directions will even announce the exits and streets so you don't have to shoot a passing glance at the display and just focus on the road.

You can even add your own custom POIs to keep you alert. Setup proximity alerts for school zones so you don't get that ticket! Suspect traffic camera's at tricky lights so you don't get fooled by those quick yellow lights. You get the drift, you can tell it what you want to be warned about and when and it'll remind you.

Stuck in traffic? Don't be. Avoid it entirely with an optional add-on. Unfortunately you do have to pay for this one but you could add a FM TMC traffic receiver and services to the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS. Be notified when there's an accident or construction on the route your traveling. Reroute by simply touching the screen and viewing the details and make the decision to recalculate your route.

Cheap Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS on eBay

"Had the 350 for just over a month now (bought it as a refurb to save $$$), practiced with it around Toronto in preparation for a trip to LA. All I can say after getting back is I don't know how I would have made my appointments and found my suppliers without it. Very confusing because of the number of highways plus never having been to LA before so the Nuvi saved my butt many times. Probably could have done the trip with a map and pre-written directions but this made it so much easier and safer knowing that when I was just site seeing I could always find my way back to the hotel."

Just What is WAAS on the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

The Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is an air navigation aid developed by the Federal Aviation Administration to augment the Global Positioning System (GPS), with the goal of improving its accuracy, integrity, and availability. Essentially, WAAS is intended to enable aircraft to rely on GPS for all phases of flight, including precision approaches to any airport within its coverage area.Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) FAQ for WAAS

WAAS uses a network of ground-based reference stations, in North America and Hawaii, to measure small variations in the GPS satellites' signals in the western hemisphere. Measurements from the reference stations are routed to master stations, which queue the received DCs and send the correction messages to geostationary WAAS satellites in a timely manner (at least every 5 seconds or better). Those satellites broadcast the correction messages back to Earth, where WAAS-enabled GPS receiver uses the corrections while computing its position to improve accuracy.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) calls this type of system a Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS). Europe and Asia are developing their own SBASs, the Indian Gagan, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) and the Japanese Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System (MSAS), respectively. Commercial systems include StarFire and OmniSTAR.
