Garmin's Nuvi Series GPS Are Great!
Ranked #17,898 in Computers & Electronics, #356,278 overall
I Never Ask For Directions...
I'm not stubborn. I just have the right gadget! I used a Garmin Nuvi Series GPS on a recent trip and was very impressed by this powerful little dashtop navigator. The multi-color maps were easy to follow in all lighting conditions. The receiver located the GPS satellites quickly. The database of points of interest (POI) was comprehensive and helpful. It helped us to find a gas station in the middle of nowhere more than once. If you take a wrong turn the Nuvi makes it easy to get back on track. It's small enough to put into your pocket.
Nuvi Series features:
Color touchscreen, automatic routing, voice guidance, address look-up, 2D or 3D maps, anti-theft feature, travel kit, picture viewer, SD card slot.

My First GPS was the Garmin eTrex
I bought my first GPS in the late 90's. I decided to get one because I wanted to start using my 4x4 SUV to explore on and off road in the Rocky Mountains. So, I checked out GPS units that were suitable for use in a vehicle as well as out of one. I ended up with the eTrex Legend. It was great! This little handheld unit gave me the confidence to leave the pavement. I never got lost using GPS. If worse came to worse, I could always retrace my route and get back to civilization. Nowadays, I find that the black and white display is too hard to see while I'm driving. That's why I was so impressed with the Garmin Nuvi Series GPS. Garmin Nuvi 300 Series
See More With The Widescreen Nuvi 600 series
Some of us have a hard time seeing the small screens on a lot of the new gadgets that are on the market today. Garmin has come up with a solution for that problem. The Nuvi 600 series GPS units feature a widescreen format. I've also seen widescreen models in the 200 and 300 series units - just look for the "w" at the end of the model number. I need glasses to read. But, I can't wear them while driving. The smaller version was easy enough for me to follow routes on without wearing my glasses. The widescreen version is easier to read, though. Garmin Nuvi 600 Series

- Kim, I did some research and decided to add a topo map to this lens. A GPS is only as accurate as the maps it uses. I've always used a topo map with my eTrex. I didn't have any problems driving from Albuquerque, NM to Colorado Springs, CO with the Nuvi 660 that inspired this lens.

- We love our Garmin here in L.A., but recently took it to Philadelphia and it didn't work for us there or in New Jersey. We were sent on a dozen wild goose chases! I wouldn't be without out it though, and I'm sure the bugs will be worked out over time.
