A Tribute to Gary Puckett
Gary Puckett & The Union Gap recorded a string of top selling, melodramatic chart ballads during the late Sixties.
Dressed in Civil War-era costumes, and complete with fictitious military ranks, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap were in their own way as far-out and singular as any other act of the period.
The group also sported a lead singer with a voice that was wonderfully full, robust and stylistically controlled. One which was one of my favorites from the 1960s.

- This group never had a number 1 song in the United States to my knowledge but their songs are great; simple eloquent stories of socially relevant issues. I am confident that they shall stand the test of time.

- I remember going to a Union Gap concert in Central Park back in the 60's and getting one of his guitar pics. Great concert and I still have his photo and guitar pic in my "best of memories" box. It was thrilling.

- I also like Gary Puckett and the Union Gaps version of You Better Sit Down Kids, it didn't get much radio play but was on an album I had...one of my favorite groups from back then, love those ballads!

- Young Girl is one of those songs that used to play so often when I was growing up in England. Very nice lens, I will get back and listen to the music later. 5***** Lensrolled into my music lenses.
