Here you'll find information on the life and writings of Gary Jennings, a master of historical fiction. If you like historical novels, you'll love his books!

Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of information available about Gary. It seems he was a pretty private man. What I can find, though, I will pass along here. I welcome contributions from others.

Gary passed away in 1999 at the age of 71 so sadly there will no new books from this great author.

Gary's Books: The Aztec Series

Aztec

The first Gary Jennings book I ever read and the one that hooked me forever. Set in Mexico at the time of the European conquest. I don't believe his follow-up books in the Aztec series had the power of this first one.

Amazon Price: (as of 10/07/2008)

Aztec Autumn (Aztec)

Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 10/07/2008)

Aztec Blood (Aztec)

This novel was published after Gary's death in 1999. It was ghostwritten (although I think I recall reading that it was at least based on Gary's notes). I found it disappointing -- it just didn't have that Jennings magic.

Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 10/07/2008)

Aztec Rage (Aztec)

This newest book in the Aztec series was released in 2006. It bears Gary's name but was ghostwritten by the two co-authors after his death.

Amazon Price: $20.40 (as of 10/07/2008)

Gary's Books: Journeyer

The story of Marco Polo and his travels from Italy to China.

Gary's Books: Spangle

Gary's books are quite long and Spangle is no exception. Published as a single volume in hardcover, the book was split into 3 volumes for the paperback printings. It covers the adventures of a 19th-century circus troupe as they travel through Europe.
